mounting transmitter behind front windscreen

On my recent tour in France, I encountered an annoying problem. Everyone who drove through France know you regularly have to pay at the "Péage" for driving over the highway. You can stop at the automated counter and pay with your bank card after which the barrier opens. This is where the longest lines of cars are queuing.
But to gain time at the Péage you can also purchase a small transmitter unit in advance so that the barrier automatically opens for you when you approach it. The amount is automatically debited from your bank account. As those are separate dedicated gates, you don't have to stand in line with the other cars. All professional drivers such as taxis use this system.

According to the Jaguar manual for the F-Type, there is a small place on the left and right of the interior mirror to mount this transmitter. But this doesn't work at all !!! I tried every place behind the windscreen you can think of to hold the transmitter unit, but the receiver at the gate can't receive/read the signal. I was forced every time to open my side window and hold the transmitter outside so the gate would open.
I know that the windshield has an internal layer for blocking the sunshine's heat. It gives the windshield a slightly darker tint as the side windows. As this is usually done by a metal vapor layer, it is possable that this is blocking the signal.
Another possibility can be that I have the optional heated front windshield. And the metal wires in the glass might also be the cause.

It would interest me to know if others encountered the same problem.

Mine worked a treat last year in France. My F-Type is an MY20 with a heated windscreen. I put the transmitter in the the area they told me to.. I think it was on the left of the mirror

MY2019 with heated screen, no problem with the Emovis tag here either, have mine on the driver's side (Dash cam on the passenger side) just made sure it is above the embedded heating elements.

Stu.

I literally tried a dozen times to hold my Emovis Tag on the decicated places next to the mirror left and right as drawn in the manual , but in vain. Also on other places not covered by the heating wires embedded in the glass (next to the A pillar). But still nothing. Maybe it has something to do with the optional heat repelllent windshield which was part of the climate pack. (F-type Coupe MY21). further testing will have to wait till my next trip in France :)

Ivo, it works well if it is positioned and mounted as recommended. I have also heated windscreen and it works flawlessly. The only time it didn't work well was before I fixed it to the windscreen. Seems the signal emitted is directional.
I am planning a trip to the south of France next week and will be enjoying it again.

Then I'm really confused why I didn't work in my car :?:
But further testing will have to wait till I'll find the time for another trip to France.
