Misfire cilinder 5 / fuel rail pressure too low bank 1

Hello,

Jaguar F-type 2015 V6S 381HP

Last week I was accelerating fast for like 200 meters only. Full throttle let's say. I noticed the engine was running on less cylinders by the traffic light immediately after the full throttle run.

Stopped directly at the gas station that was very near and shut down the engine. After 30 secondes started again --> Rough idling. After 15 minutes tried again --> no start at all (start motor was running).

OBD gave me code P0305 - misfire cylinder 5

The spark plugs has been changed 3000km ago. Checked the coil for cylinder 5 visually. Nothing wrong. Also recharged the battery because once in a while the car gave a low battery notification. Common problem in the winter when I am not driving frequently. The vehicle tracking system for the insurance consumes a lot of energy.

After the battery that has been charged, I gave it another try. The engine did start after quite long cranking but was idling very very very rough... I did turn off the engine immediately.

OBD gave me code P00C6 - Fuel pressure rail too low (Bank 1)

I expect that there is a faulty fuel injector causing this problem. You should expect cylinder 5 fuel injector. However I can no clarify why the fuel pressure on Bank 1 (cylinder 1,2,3) is too low. In this case I should expect that the fuel pressure on Bank 2 is too low because of an fuel injector / cylinder 5 that remains open. Maybe I am wrong.

Does anyone have an idea what is going on?

Hi there. Although the coil pack visually looked fine, it may still have a fault. Previously I had a Z4 with the same symptoms and similar code being thrown up. Although the coil pack looked fine, I bought one to at least have as a handy spare if it wasn't the issue. Thankfully, as I had read about injector problems etc on the Si engine, it was simply the coil pack and as they were all the same age I bought another 5 to replace the lot and the problem was cured. Hope yours is as straightforward.

Thanks for the reply so far guys!

My Z4 35i did also have some faulty coils (after tuning stage 1) but the engine was still running on 5 of the 6 cylindes. For me it is unlikely that multiple coils are failing (because of the very rough idle) at the same time now. For now I expect one of the two HP fuel pumps went bad.

I am going to take the car to a garage for testing the fuel pressure and compression in the engine. My OBD scanner doesn't have those options.

I will keep this forum updated.
