Just got my 2 and a half year old car and given it a thorough cleaning and detailing. However the Jaguar kick plates on the sills have milky white marks and spots on them. Before I go tackle these with the wrong cleaning product has anyone else experienced these and can you offer me cleaning advice?<div><br></div><div>Cheers</div>

White wine vinegar is your friend. <div> Dab it on with a sponge, leave for ten minutes then neutralise with fresh water.</div>

I cleanded mine with some autosol metal polish, a really clean cloth and didnt rub too hard

I'm sure dealer will sort however

The cars in the dealers in a couple of weeks to get the window glass and seals replaced as the glass has suffered vertical scratches due to the poor seal design. I'll point this out to them when its in and see what they can do. Failing that I'll have to try a more aggressive cleaner/polish.

no - thats removed (mainly ). There was a milky run line where the bottom of the film had not been removed correctly.

I tried the white wine vinegar but it did nothing

OK - Then it's not an easy to remove contaminant or calcium deposit from Hard water.

It may be where a strong alkaline cleaner or TFR has been used to clean the car at some stage. If that's the case, then it has etched into the ally, and the only way to remove it is to use an abrasive ro replace the metal tread plate. As others have said, use a very low abrasive; Autosol, T-Cut etc. No VIM!
