microphone placement

Afternoon,

I've just installed the Unique audio interface so now have the ever so modern carplay in my 2016 ftype.
I have the HK version so it is in the cubbyhole behind the seats.

I've put the mic for handsfree on the drivers windscreen pillar but I'm not sure the sound is very loud from it.
Anyone got any tips on best placement for it?
Also how do I think get the cable neatly from the mic to the cubbyhole? It is currently just tucked under the trim at the top of the door then behind the seat into the cubbyhole. not elegant. Ideally I'd like to take the panel off behind the seat and run it there, is that possible ?

Any other suggestions?

That’s where my mic is, no issues holding conversations unless the roof is down of course!

Did you get bluetooth working so you can use the steering wheel buttons?

Yes it works off the steering wheel buttons, plus it has Apple Car Play, Waze etc….all set up by the previous owner,
