Media player weirdness

Does anyone know how the media player works? I have a USB stick that I've loaded with MP3s and I play it on shuffle. No matter how many extra tracks I put on the stick, the display always shows 5531 tracks. There are 5991 tracks on it now. I have two identically loaded memory sticks and swapping between them makes no difference, either, it always shows 5531.

Also, tonight I noticed that the display seems to be taking a leaf out of the Two Ronnies playbook, and displays the artwork for the previous track every time. How can you synchronise things? I've tried skipping forward and backward but that didn't help. Help!

Here’s some information which may help? https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=85390#p85390

I also use a USB stick in the centre console area, loaded with thousands of my ripped CDs. It has glitched once (about 15 months ago) in the 4 years I've had the car, but I just wiped the USB stick and copied the music back in and it has been fine again since. The large centre touchscreen shows the USB stick as a new audio source when it is plugged in and away you go.

I'd be surprised if the media system can't read exFAT drives, so if you reformat the drive I'd suggest trying that. It can handle larger file systems than FAT32.
NTFS on a USB stick can have problems I've found.
