Marshall’s extended warranty

Afternoon everyone,
I hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend?

Has anyone purchased a car from a Marshall’s dealership ?

I am looking at one and they are offering additional years warranty (at the end of manufacture warranty) for a very competitive price if £650 JLR warranty was £800+.
I questioned if same level cover as JLR they said yes but ideally if warranty work was needed it should be returned to Marshall’s dealership.
Based on fact the car has 2 years + warranty remaining I thought £650 was good price to lock in extra year now as I imagine in the future extended JLR warranty will become more expensive
Just wanted to see if anyone has Marshall extended warranty and has it been used without problems.

I had a F type from a different dealership chain they didn’t offer extended warranty, when I called JLR to see if I could extend they said £800+ but to early to apply and they would be in touch nearer end of manufacture warranty

To be fair they seem OK, but still dealer / sales people not sure they are bothered about anything other than a sale, will tell you what they think you want to hear.

Where you offered or did you take Marshall’s extended warranty?

I suppose will have to double check warranty terms and conditions but it’s pages and pages long :roll:

I cannot comment on Marshalls as a dealer, nor the current policy, however I purchased my F Type 6 years ago from a specialist dealership and it came with a Marshalls extended warranty, from the previous owner. It was freely transferred so I had no cause to complain, however I did read the T&C's as I needed to make a claim and the conditions were not as generous as JLR. It was an insurance backed policy with more exemptions. I was fortunate and used consumer credit law via the seller to get the fault fixed.

You really need to at least scan read the T&C's and the current JLR as it's not so much the price difference but the cost if something is not covered. As Billy above notes the sales person will tell you anything to sell the car.

Someone on the i-Pace forum got stuck with a Marshall's warranty (didn't realise it wasn't the real JLR one) and had issues with a warranty claim - it's not as comprehensive as the JLR one and I believe it doesn't allow you to have Jaguar Assistance. As always, check the small print very carefully. Hope you don't live to regret that £150 "saving".

Thanks for the comments it’s more the cover I’m interested in, so anything that might not be covered by Marshall’s but would be covered by JLR is not good

Fair point, I will double check but already I am already seeing replies containing comments like ‘insurance backed’, ‘not as good’ and as you mentioned no Jaguar assistance.

£3000 limit on single claim is not great tbh you extend the warranty to cover big things not the odd £200 - £300 fix
SCM’s comment about regretting taking Marshall over JLR to save a couple hundred quid is stuck in my mind

That warranty sounds very similar to the Jaguar Select Extended Warranty £3000 limit etc. There are two levels available, Jaguar Extended Warranty and Jaguar Select Extended Warranty.

The Jaguar Select Warranty lists specifically what is covered, whereas the comprehensive version lists any exclusions. I don't think things like injectors, cats or possibly headlamps are included in the select version (£3k limit would be tight anyway). This has always looked a bit duff in terms of value, as it's only £150 less than the full monty version anyway.

Yeah I’m beginning to realise it’s not as good as the full JLR one, I will wait until nearer manufacture warranty ends and take the JLR “full Monty” one
