Looking like i need Cats

Only had the car a few days and the engine management light came on.

Had the car diagnosed showing fault codes Po420 and 430 , the Garage said the batterty was goosed so they fitted a new battery and reset the codes .. Well the Cell light is back on today so they say it needs both cats.

So i will speak to the dealer and see how he wants to play it , problem is there a 5 hour drive away .

Has anyone had any luck getting the cats swapped at an exhuast builders shop?

Has car sat long before you bought it.
Maybe a decent blast will clear cats.
Also might not be cats ...might be sensors.
What's the mileage

Unsure how you ended up with a new battery for an emissions error code. Anyway.

O2 sensors would be the first thing to check. They are common issue. Any good Jaguar dealer or independent should be able to find the root cause.

Its a 2015 with 49k miles , the garage that checked the car out were so called Jag specialists . It was showing low battery warning all the time after i had done a good 300 miles so they recommended to get that sorted to eliminate it.

They said there wasnt any codes logged for the 02 sensors

Im going to try a shot of CATACLEAN to see if that help /

Other than that would the Larini 200cel sports cats be a decent option ?

Why aren’t you just landing the issue at the door of the dealer who sold it, under consumer law?
The fault in law would clearly be classed as pre-existing and it’s their job to fix it, regardless of if they like it. Had exactly this sort of issue when I purchased mine many years ago and it was all paid for by the seller.
Meanwhile you should not be interfering by adding cat cleaners, etc as t may weaken your position.
Also no need to drive back to the seller as they can appoint a local garage to handle any diagnosis.

Yes going to get back to the dealer tomorrow , however i am trying to pre arm myself with some options that may or may not come up ,, for example sports cats arnt an option after looking into them ect ect. just to noisy for me .

I would certainly make sure you are well versed on the relevant clauses in the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The dealer will almost certainly reference the warranty and exclusions, etc. to sidestep liability, but law this has nothing to do with insurance or manufacturer warranties.
Good luck

Just a little update on my situation with my recuring Cel light

Took the car to an exhuast manufacturer who looked the cats over give them a tap and looked inside via the hole for the sensor they said they look ok

Then had an MOT sniff test done / said the cats are perfoming well. The car runs like a dream too, no smoke, no bad smells ect ect.

Next i had fitted O2 Sensor spacers fitted down stream hoping it might stop the cell light but nope comes back on

The same codes on codes Po420 and 430 . No codes for faulty 02 sensors so reluctent to start changing them. So i think i might be at the stage now to get new cats fitted although im not conviced these are knackered:{

Just some info if your in the same position as me /

My EML has gone off finally ! For the first time since buying the car i put her in sport mode and give it a blast . Bingo sorted:))
