Locking wheel nut removal without damaging alloy

Hello all

Can anyone help I want to remove my locking wheel nuts but using the adaptor supplied it scratches the inside of the bolt hole.
The adaptor key when fitted has a lot of movement so when the socket is fitted it rotates at an angle and digs in to the alloy.

Either I am doing something way wrong or this key is the worst design ever.

Thanks in advance

Can't speak to your particular locking wheel nut and if it's faulty, but I prevent scratching by running a couple of wraps of insulation tape around sockets and locking nut sockets/keys
I also use a cross shaped wheel brace so all pressure is turning, avoiding the temptation to use a socket on and extension bar and naturally force it sideways

Thanks for that, yes I can see a wheel brace with tape round the socket key would be much better. I did have tape round it when using the bar but as you said the bar forces it sideways. I think we are on a winner here.
Again thanks.

That is quite a common damage area as the clearance between any socket including the locking adaptor and the side of the recess is tight.

As has been mentioned, a couple of wraps of insulating tape around the tool stops it...and ensuring that you are square onto the nut helps.
