little upgrades

I came across these people the other day, it may be of use to someone

It's slightly naughty as they are programming your car to unlock features in software that you didn't spec when you bought, but make your own judgement

Mo only uses the clips of sw you would get from JLR. Not sure how the relevant data is obtained but then that’s their problem and they’ve been going a while now so it must all be legit.
A few on here have had various options enabled - I’ve had cruise and dual climate enabled and it was excellent value. You get the additional text info in the driver display and synch tile in the main screen.
The Meridian upgrade and 10” head unit are also handy options if you’re lucky enough to have the matching vin range.

Again, for those who have the correct MY / VIN.
Otherwise folks such as Tom Lenthall can install a 6% smaller SC pulley and very smooth remap with distinctly safe AFR to take you past 400hp.

This has got my attention! Had a quick look on his website and pretty impressed. Have you had any tuning done by him? I was toying with the idea of going to David appleby for a stage 1 tune if I decide to put back the idea of a v8 a couple of years.

I've had servicing, various warranty work and tuning done by him yes.
They are all ex JLR senior technicians with lots of practical knowledge and fault finding expertise.
Service records are uploaded to the Jag online service history and warranty work is all dealt with directly by them too.
If you speak to Adam (maybe mention that Simon recommended them) I'm sure he can offer you a competitive price for the work compared to DAE - who I understand are also first class.
Post tune I had the car at Surrey Rolling Road and it posted over 400hp - with the likes of Viezu you can expect a little more but I'm quite happy with an AFR ranging from 12 down to 11.5 as the power comes on, rather than chasing a particular max.
One last bit of advice - watch for the speed bumps as you drive through the industrial estate in a state of excited anticipation - they're not painted and quite vicious!

Hello

Yes for me I am lucky to have JCK in my vin range, so am pondering about the full screen 10 inch upgrade, but to be honest the screen I currently have (now that I have updated my maps) I still like ... and find the hardware buttons on the side handy

will let you know what I decide ??

Yes Kaspa - buttons are so much easier and safer than touch screen menus. You can tell that very few cars are designed with drivers in mind now.
I just have a sprung clamshell on top of the centre vent and use my phone in there.
I find the height better to glance across at and less glare (convertible) than the main screen.
Much cheaper and maybe worth a try before spending on an upgrade.
The vent is supposed to be able to rise with a spanner on top of it (official JLR workshop test 😂 ) so should be fine - can of course also be set to always open too.

+1 on the use of buttons - much safer when on the move. I think the trend towoards everything on touchscreens is a backward step in safety - after all using a mobile is illegal, and what's the real difference between a phone screen and the one in a car (except you can keep your eyes, if not your mind, on the road when using a phone)? I'm surprised the EU hasn't legislated about it yet.

I too agree with the physical buttons.. I have an MY18 with the latest map updates and software update.. I have a sim only added which means I get to have live updates and can stream Deezer, Spotify directly on the system. It's just missing that full android/apple car play features.
I miss being able to respond to WhatsApp messages using voice.. For navigation I like the new Jag one over google/waze.
What I don't understand is why JLR have added the smartphone pack to the 10" display and not the MY18 8" . It uses the same hardware and the pack can be sent over the air now.
I have seen a post on upgrading the screen to the 10" but still needs programming in.

Mine is a MY18.5 with the 8” display and buttons which was my preference, however have a bit of a problem with Jaguar Here and map updates, what software version is on your car using?

"A bit of a problem" isn't very specific if you want someone to help! ;)

I did start a topic on the issue some weeks ago https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=72119#p72119 ,this issue is ongoing with Jaguar as they seem to have their Jaguar Here software in a closed loop, and was interested in the software version of other 2018 MY cars.

I'm on version S22A_22.32 which was the latest release in Dec 22. Map updates are fine. I just login to my incontrol app. Go to map updates. Insert USB stick into laptop and download. Once done I plug it in the first USB socket in the car and update.

Thanks for that as I expected mine is well out of date I will have to get it updated at the next service. I use to be able to update the maps as you do, however the first issue was I could no longer synchronise routes, and can now not even access the subscription page for the map updates as there is no car connected. The car can’t be connected as it says the Incontrol subscription has expired which it hasn’t.

Superb info, thanks so much. I'm going to look into this. I was thinking the v8 route but I've only had my v6s for 10 months and a little extra power might just be what the doctor ordered !

Do you know all f type r 's have it disabled and it's just a matter of enabling?

AFAIK, the Dual Zone Climate was a cost option, to be chosen by first owner at time of order. If it hadn't been specified then, LR Retrofits can activate it retrospectively.
