Once adjusted to be spot on, those early Performance seats are so good yes - I once drove from home to Hergiswil in Switzerland - 670 miles in about 16 hours and they were supremely good, even with a history of lower back problems and sciatica. They are supportive in all the right places and I'm sure add to the perceived ride quality. With the hydraulic power steering on early cars you lose nothing of the feel of the front wheels through the road either.
Re. the MPS4s tyres, the design is getting of an age now and they are quite expensive too - no doubt review driven. The replacement PSs5 (they've moved the "s" back) are only available as OEM factory fit at present and not in replacement 20" F-Type size. I went with Conti SC7 on the front axle and have been very happy with them - they seem to have a touch more immediacy in their reaction to inputs - and are a chunk less expensive. It will be interesting to see the reviews and pricing of the PSs5 vs Conti SC7.
