Nice write-up, and interesting ownership experience.
I have one of the last five registered hexhead GSA’s in olive/sand. The WC’s had been released about 6/8 months prior to me buying the machine. It’s stood me well and only has 25,000 on it. Apart from the common exhaust valve seizing, which a can of PlusGas fixed, it has been unwieldingly reliable (touch wood) and I’ve done all my own servicing over the past nine years.
I’d been half minded for a while to buy into the 1250 Rallye (I do like their looks) and now the 1300, but I feel I can’t ring myself to part with my current 1200. I’m also not keen being the proverbial beta-tester purchaser…. There’s not so much madness buying an outgoing model which has had all its foibles rectified
.
As I get older, the bike becomes heavier
but, like you say, once on the move they lose all their weight and are a clever, well-balanced machine.
Must get a meet up organised, either two-wheels or four…
and a bacon barm somewhere?
