Just off to pick the new car up...

Currently sitting at the train station on the way to Crewe to pick my new (to me) F-Type up.
IRR, black pack, flat wheel, black/red stitch interior etc, etc..

V8R

Looking forward to it....

Enjoy the drive home it is a wonderful experience.
You are luckier though, had to pick mine up Friday afternoon, then drive all the way from Coventry to Dorset with all the holiday makers, so could not fully experience its performance.

Friday afternoon for me too, though only 90 odd miles.

Choice of M4/M25/M1 or A34. Chose the latter and hit solid traffic around Oxford up to M40.

Got a call from the O/H who had taken me to collect the car and had set off home a couple of hours earlier. She'd managed to clip the kerbing of a keep left bollard and burst both o/s tyres and buckled both wheels. Thankfully she was ok but the Fiesta was not. Found them both just south of MK and looking the worst for wear. Arranged recovery and set off home with the O/H in the passenger seat of the Jag. So that was the death knell for any prospect of fun in my first drive of my new car :)

Made up for it since though

Well, it's quite nippy...

Can certainly feel the weight difference over the Exige, but almost in a nice, expected way.

Had it in Dynamic mode with exhaust open - is this the best combination to get the pops and crackles?

The instantaneous mpg readout is quite the comedian too!

Dynamic plus sport is the best for pops and bangs, plus active exhaust on. Lift off at 3.5k to 4k rpm. Enjoy!

You're going to have to help me out here - I move the toggle switch to Dynamic (opposite of rain/snow) but where do I find 'sport'?
Active exhaust always comes on with Dynamic doesn't it?

Ah, ok.

Is that not the same as just using the paddles when in Dynamic?
On the way home I had it in Dynamic, but just normal drive, then used the paddles.

(I really ought to RTFM, but hey...)

I've got mine configured so the paddles only work in Sport but that's just personal preference.

The key thing that Sport does is sharpen up the throttle response and it revs higher before shifting up when you leave it in automatic. Put it in dynamic first, leave it in auto (I. E. Don't use the paddles) then pop it into sport. You'll see the revs go up when you shift the leaver to the left.

Also, in sport mode, it stays in the selected gear, either by shifter or paddles and will rev to the limiter so acts more like a manual box.

Not tried it personally, too much mechanical sympathy :)

Yep. Also try feathering the throttle on the over-run. I can make the pops last about a minute at a push.

Had a play in sports mode last night - very nice noise.
Although I had a woman walking a dog on the grass verge, and as I lifted off to slow right down as I approached her (to well below the speed limit I may add) I think the noise startled her judging by the gesticulating she was doing...
