Jammed passenger door.

There have been quite a few posts about the F-Types doors not locking in sub zero temperatures, and mine too had this problem.
Ive had the F-type for just over a year (400AWDMY18) and had got accustomed to this problem whenever there was freezing spell.
My approach was to use Remote Climate to start car for some 20 mins, also pour lots of (room temperature) water over all windows/door/seals/doorlocks/mirrors before getting into car. (car not garaged, but on drive overnight).
But there were still times when the doors would not lock at first, but would do so eventually (I would try several times with key-fob, button on inside of door, handle on outside till it eventually locked).
Was a bit of a pain, but I accepted this as part of the F-type experience.
But during the last cold spell we had in February, there was this morning when it was -3 degrees and the car was covered in a rather thick crust of ice.
I got in and managed to close door after the usual rigmarole as above. Put my briefcase on passenger seat (didn't want to risk opening the power assisted boot, incase the electric motor packed up, given the thick crust of ice all over
Drove my 15 min commute to work, parked car in office car park, and without thinking opened the passenger door to get my briefcase.
BUT, this time the passenger door refused to shut, it would just bounce back, with the window doing its up&down dance. I tried all the different ways ( key fob, inside button, outside handle, nothing helped).
The ice on the roof was now melting slowly, dripping onto the leather seats, but the door would just not shut.
I tried holding the door shut and pressing the door handle shut, but it would flip out again.
So I then held the door firmly shut, and also held the door handles firmly closed for several seconds. After a while it stopped trying to flip out and stayed shut. Whew !
Thought nothing of it, but the following weekend when I tried opening the passenger door I realised it would not open. The door handles pop out as normal but the door itself seemed jammed shut.
Car was already booked 48 month service beginning of march, so when I took it in for servicing ( Sinclair Swansea) I pointed this out, and they said they would fix it.
Unfortunately they were not able to solve the problem. They say they don't know what is causing the problem and will need the car for a couple of days to strip the door open. Apparently its a major job to strip the door, and I gather some parts can break when the open it (?).
Busy at work, and finally got a bit of time on my hands, so Ive just dropped the car off at Sinclairs this morning and will collect it on friday (hopefully fixed this time).
Ive got extended warranty and I would think a fault like this is covered, but I still can't help worrying about the "what if ...."
Any thoughts on what the fault might be ?
Any advice would be most welcome.
Will keep you updated.
Thanks,
Frank.

Every Jaguar I've had has had problems with door opening/closing during very cold weather. Tough to open initially, and then won't latch when I try to shut it. Repeated banging usually does the trick after a few attempts. There's a thread on here somewhere about this issue, although yours sounds a little different to just the cold weather issue.

I had a very similar problem with an Audi a few years ago, it got so annoying I ended up strapping the door shut until it warmed up sufficiently to work. Eventually traced to water in the cable sheath inside the door which was freezing up and jamming the cable inside and preventing the lock from working properly. Possibly something similar is going on with yours?
