Jaguar Used Warranty - How to submit claim?

Hi,

Bought my used F Type (68 reg) MY17 F-Type in March and noticed that the LED headlights have the crazing mentioned by a few posters on here.

I would like to get someone from Jaguar to check whether they are covered under my Jaguar used warranty and thought I could get this looked at as part of the next service due in November.

Booked my car in with my local dealer (Sytner Bristol) and added it to the list of work I required. I received an email today confirming my booking with a note saying that if the warranty claim were to be rejected by Jaguar I would be invoiced £216 + VAT!

I cannot fathom why they would charge me for simply looking at the headlights on my car and perhaps taking a photo or two to send to Jaguar.

My question is this - can I submit my own claim (therefore bypassing the dealer) directly to Jaguar?

No you can’t. If you call them directly they will happily advise you of the process and whether the particular fault is covered (certainly if the led element had failed it would be, not sure myself on “crazing?”) their standard practice is that any warranty claim has to be referred through and handled by the dealer.

When I asked Jaguar Extended Warranty about my dim nearside DRL they said it had to be diagnosed first by an authorised Jaguar retailer (preferred) or a Jaguar specialist or garage.

I booked my car in for a service, which includes a free vehicle health check and then noted the headlight issue by calling up later. The front desk customer service person looked at and diagnosed it around 20 seconds that it would be a valid claim.

If you have the full Jaguar Extended Warranty then headlights are covered for sudden electrical failure and NOT anything regarding wear and tear such as crazing.

OK, thanks for that. I thought I had read on this forum somewhere that some lucky owners had managed to get them replaced for crazing / cracking under warranty but I couldn't find the post despite searching. Maybe I dreamt it?

Try this thread, there is a reference to a tech bulletin and dependant on level of deterioration looks like some have managed to polish up ( but don’t use toothpaste ) as is often mentioned on various sites when this subject comes up 🙄.

Thank you. This was the thread I was looking for....

My headlights 2017 MY have the same issue, I was told it wasn't covered under warranty, mine was an approved used car and had the issue when I viewed it.
