Jaguar Sat Nav Map Update

I don't know if others know it but Map Updates are now available via the Jaguar Update Service for older systems - this after not being available for my MY2017 Car six months after I bought it .

V6S Coupe - with all the bells and whistles
 
Only had my car about a month but have noticed that I get 2 beeps and a safety camera warning from the Sat Nav when approaching speed cameras - is this normal or something the previous owner has added. Just thinking if I get a map update it might get wiped out!

It’s part of the update. Won’t erase….
 
It seems there’s an update every month or two, from Here Mapping.

Big drawback is it’s a ~30 GB download each time, and about an hour on fibre broadband.

Most won’t be interested in downloading maps updates for Russia and it’s a shame the service isn’t configured to update “tiles” of areas of value.

Mine also does this, but interestingly it behaves differently depending on whether I'm actually use navigation. There are two cameras(?) on a stretch of road near me, one in each direction and if the satnav isn't active it beeps when I pass one camera in the "wrong" direction. With satrnav active it beeps for the other camera.

Absolutely this.
Why on earth you can't just get the UK maps I don't know. It would be a 2-3Gb file at most. I'm never ever going to end up driving to eastern europe so I have no need at all for at least half of the download. And it would take a lot less than half an hour of driving for it to install as well.
 
When down loading the maps you get an option to choose which Countrys you vist for me just UK, France ,Spain and Portugal.One can lways go back and download other Countrys as and when. Download time only a few minures.

AIUI you download it on a home computer (Mac or Windoze PC only) onto a USB stick, which you then put in the car to perform the update. Why they can't just give you a zip file is beyond me. but hey, why do things simply when you can make them needlessly complicated?
 
As the original OP stated this thread is about the older nav systems using an SD card which you pop into your computer and using the JLR updater software it will update the SD card.
It hasn't been available for quite a while and has/is being discussed elswhere .
Later systems use the "Here" site on a USB which is downloaded to the car.

If you have an SD card slot in the car then this thread relates to you.
If you only have a USB slot then it's the later system.
 
I just stuck the S Card in the Computer and downloaded the areas I wanted.It did not take very long

Hello

Old thread I know .. just that I have 100% successfully updated my maps with no issues (make sure you down load the map here loader file and install it)
I purchased a 64gb mem stick USB3 and it was already formatted to FAT32 ..

Also I checked that the here format assistant formatted a old mem stick (64gb) that was not fat32 and when I checked in properties it had completed this

I now have maps version 08.030.0144.0154 loaded (Europe & Russia)
I also added a new 3 sim data card and the in control system updated over the air (sota)

so all is good as I was expecting issues and surprisingly all worked as per instructions

Hello

Looks like you are using a SD card so slightly older system so the map version number may be different

My example is a 17 plate but a 2018 year model (has JCK in the vin) which is the InTouch control pro system ( I have 2 USB ports )
I use a mem stick there is no SD card in my model year
