Jaguar Remote App issue

Now then folks. I'm having an issue with the Jaguar Remote App. I can Lock/Unlock the car and also Bleep/Flash. The journeys are enabled for which I can see each time. My problem is I can not Remote Start the car which is a drama at this time of year. When I stand next to the car and try it, the dashboard comes to life, needles sweep the gauages and the last message is @Press brake pedal to start engine' Jaguar helpdesk say take it to the dealer and bend over the table.

Has anybody got any ideas. My App version is 2.15.0

That's not normal is it? I suppose you could try resetting the electrics by disconnecting the battery for 10mins then reconnecting, if it's a software glitch that might help. It might also cause other problems.

Check your handbook for the criteria which allow the car to be started and make sure you've fullfilled all the requirements. Is your battery fully charged? I've never had an issue remote starting mine,so your situation is definitely unusual. The car is locked, I presume, to show that message the car clearly thinks you're inside it.

Delpel - which model year, and is it a manual or automatic? I'll assume it's an auto as the dash is saying 'press brake'

A number of criteria have to be met for the car to start remotely; parking brake on, doors locked, battery good etc.

Is your subscription still valid and up to date?

The car doesn't communicate with your phone but direct with Jag's servers so it may be a connectivity issue. Try driving somewhere else away from houses/pylons and see if the car will start

Cheers for the advice guys. My car is the P300 MY2018 on a 67 plate (UK). It's an auto and the parking brake is on, good battery. The app is showing the car is locked. My phone is Android, version 2.15.0 is the latest available on the play store. So I am going to try an iPhone with version 2.17.0 tomorrow. I'll let you know how I get on.

So tried an IPhone with version 2.17.0 but still no joy. Going to contact an independent specialist and see if they can help.

If the car appears to go through the motions it's clearly geting the start message, so must be something in the car that's causing it. Any codes thrown?

My initial thought is that it must be something to do with the gearbox or electronic parking brake sensor. Obviously, as a safety issue, the car wouldn't start if the car isn't in "Park" with the electronic parking brake applied. I know this is obvious and you've probably already done so, but double check both these criteria have been met before investigating further.

Oh, and the car must be locked too.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same issue. Everything on the app works except that. It was working earlier this year but I haven't used it for a while

Yesterday I got an update to the app (2.18.6) and it seems to be behaving better in the limited testing I've done so far. The guys on the i-Pace forum have written their own versions (much better, of course - Wattcat for Android and MyPace for iPhone) and they reported that Jaguar has tightened up their security to prevent third parties making illicit use of the API. I wonder if those changes have negatively impacted the Remote app and they've only just got round to fixing it.

I'll report back as I use it more if it still seems to be broken.

Mine has been playing up recently too on remote start only. Failure each time. Glad to know it's not just me!

Still playing up for me - it worked yesterday afternoon when I tested it, but in the evening when I needed it, just the spinning wheel. Today it's working again!

It's really frustrating in this weather. I always use it outside of work to give the engine a couple of minutes of warm up and cool the inside before I get in. Seems to either be sat on wheel of doom or fail more than it works at the moment

The same for me work’s for a random amount of time after driving the car, then goes into the non stop spinning mode.

FWIW - I have v2.18.6 on an iPhone, and the remote app isn’t fully functioning as it should/did.

Journeys are being recorded.
Guardian mode seems to work.
But Climate/Door Locking/Beep time-out with a fail.

I wonder whether this aspect has been mucked about with when JLR recently tweaked/upgraded their vehicle security, after the theft debacle. Pointing to an in-vehicle upgrade from a dealer?. Or, maybe I’m overthinking it?

I had the same issue last winter! The app would let me lock/unlock and do the bleep/flash thing, but remote start was a no-go. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and that did the trick for me. Also, double-check that your car’s battery is in good shape and that the brake pedal sensors are working. If that doesn’t fix it, you might want to try another dealer or a different mechanic before shelling out for a big repair.

On my car (2023) to remote start I use the Climate tab, set a temperature that will active the AC and press the fan icon. Starts right up.

Yep, that's the way it's supposed to work, and has for me since 2018 until the last couple of months. I've ordered a new TCU battery in the hope that will sort my (car!) issues out. Should be here tomorrow.
