It’s Not Looking Good For JLR

No looking good JLR

Record losses reported

I think we can thank our Socialist (masquerading as a Tory) Chancellor and his anti motorist taxes for the UK side of this. Two years ago I bought two Jaguars, my F Type and 'Er indoor's F Pace, just beating the savage tax rises, wouldn't do it now.

Statistics can be bent to make things appear far worse than they really are .
I have copied this from a post on the F-Pace forums that was talking about these figures.
There's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

"£3.1bn of the headline £3.4bn loss is an accounting adjustment on capital value of factory premises, plant and equipment, it has very little to do with sales figures. While the actual number of car sales at JLR are down, they are actually only down by slightly less than 10,000 cars, from 154,447 to 144602, according to a report on the BBC business news website.
In the last Qtr of 2018 they still posted sales values of £6.2 billion, against £6.3 billion for the same Qtr the year before. "

I have unashamedly stolen this from a post on the F-Pace forums

The pedant in me feels obliged to point out that you've actually copied, rather than stolen, it, since I presume you haven't deprived the F-Pace forum of that text. ;)

Thanks for posting, regardless.

Thanx PhilB,

I understand there are also some asset adjustments so not as dire as the headlines would have you believe ... and positive order books for the 2019 DEFENDER should see a far better out turn for the next submission ...

Regards, P

I've amended my post to avoid any potential pedantry.
