Is Low Mileage Normal

Okay, so having owned the F-Type Coupe for two years and loving it, she has not quite reached 3,000K miles. Has anyone done less miles per year on average than me ?

I really enjoy the car, but its not a daily driver and I'm out of the country quite a bit. Sometimes I wonder if I should have bought it, but that feeling soon goes away when I start her up.

I had plans of doing Grand Tours of the UK and may be Europe, but work gets in the way :(

On the bright side, an average 1,500 per year means that I shouldn't have to change the tires for 10 years and it as long as I protect it from damp and rust, it should still look good in 20 years.

Is this unusual milage or normal ?

I'm about 6000 per year because I cycle to work and only use the F-type at weekends. Don't think I'd go lower than that.

You should come up here to Scotland and do the NC500... That'll help add some fun miles!

I'm as wary of very low mileage cars as I am of high mileage cars when buying. I figure an engine is there to be used. I wouldn't buy a second hand car that has done less than around 3000 miles per year.

I will be at about 2500 miles for the first year but am planning to increase that in the second year, the car is such a pleasure to drive that I don't feel it is currenytly being used enough.

I agree with dezzy a car should be driven on a regular basis.

I’d say low mileage on F-Types is more normal than abnormal. I’d wager more are cherished, garaged & kept for weekends & sunny days, than daily drivers.

My three year old V6 had 8k on it at purchase last April. Put 4k on it up to Nov when it was stored away.

Would love to put more miles on it but work gets in the way! 😄

I put 6k on mine in a year ... too few miles and like dizzy says, I’d be wary of it being a weekend thrasher ...

As to the point of low miles, low wear and keeping the tyres, I presume you’re joking and fully aware that age can kill tyres ability just as much as well as tread depth ...

Personally I don’t care about low mileage. It means nothing to me. Buy it, love it, drive it and then drive it some more
Just passed 50k and people who stop and ask me think it’s near brand new.
Had mine to drive and enjoy, not do 10 miles on a weekend and pass on in 20 years for £5k more

I use mine as a daily driver and with a 12km round trip commute, I'd need to take some serious detours to stretch beyond my typical 6000km (3700miles) per year.

Yes, I was joking about the tires. I know that age kills anything regardess of use. It's just a shame that I can't use it more. My wife is always cautious of where we take it and I have to ignore her and say that if you don't use it then what's the point.

Its pretty typical for ferraris for sure, so I guess if your car is a garage queen too, then OK. My Lotus averaged 2k pa, the Ferrari did 1500 miles and the Jag is doing much the same. Such cars arent much funb in the city, they arent much use at Tesco, they dont carry the kids and the wife so they tend not to get used except for run outs.
Does it matter?
