Just had my renewal in £379.80. :o Protected no claims. Wife & myself driving (both pretty old, hope she's not reading this) Voluntary excess £0, Compulsory excess £150. Car garaged. Don't think so
Ran online quotes, AA £222.98 Like for like quote but their compulsory excess was £100, even better.
Phoned to say I would not be renewing. "Oh, I can have a look at your quote but it won't be that low" Well don't waste both our time. Bye!
Its awful we have this carry on every year, but just shows how many people do not shop around or they would not be trying it on

Good premium - well done

It's a fundamental flaw in the industry and society in general that they discount premiums to attract new and raise for those who remain because of inertia they are too busy or lazy to check and move.
Sadly it drives the exact opposite of customer loyalty

You see the same in anything from utilities, mobiles, even to employment where moving gets bigger pay increases and adjustment to market rates, than loyalty

Yep, very irritating. Been with MoreThan for ages. At each renewal it usually goes up by some ridiculous percentage.

Go through the farce of getting a quote as a new customer (sometimes on their own website) then phone and tell them.......I have a better quote.......who with.......you.......... !

Sometimes they just match it, but I have had to cancel the policy and take the new customer web policy in prior years. Although this year for the first time the renewal quote was OK.

My Abarth is with LV. The renewal and new customer price are always identical each year, no messing about. A bit more expensive for the F Type though.

Every year same thing, then the time spent calling around to get a sensible quote, with multiple cars it gets tiresome. Not only cars though seems any insurance policy you have use the same tactics.

Mine is due 2nd July. Last year £603. Renewal says £809.30 and that's with £850 excess or £1500 and no courtesy car if you take it to a garage of your choice.

Commence the shopping around. Again.

Mine was £264 with Saga and this year the price was fixed for 3 years under their Essential policy.
My choice if I want to renew but if I do then the same price is guaranteed.

I go on the same merry-go-round with direct line every year... for 2 cars and house insurance. Get online quotes as a new customer and they always pretty much match the quotes, and I retain all no claim discounts, etc. About 1hr of my time for a saving of maybe £200 across all 3 policies.

Uptick for LV renewals as well; I shifted to them for my XK last year (after a ridiculous increase from Direct Line) and when I called about switching to the new F-Type the increase was minimal and prorated for the year was much more competitive than like for like new policies elsewhere.
Can’t comment on them for claims handing, but customer service so far has been 100%.
Also, learned from experience to always get quotes at least a week (ideally much earlier) before renewal date otherwise you will pay a lot more.
Nice touch also from Bell insurance, who my son uses, they sent him a rebate as a result of low claims during COVID

Yes that's what I used to do. Unless your insurance had expired you couldn't use your registration, so I just plugged in a similar cars registration which gave me the base, they always matched.

I guess it's not really any different to checking our utility quotes each year🤔

Fortunately I don't have to do this for the next 2 years.

I got a quote from one of 5he comparison sites but got the date to start from wrong by two weeks. The quote was 70.00 cheaper to start in two weeks than it was to start that day.

There is an article on moneysavingexpert by Martin Lewis about car insurnace and the best time to request a quote seems to be 21 days prior to renewal. I'm sure it's not an exact science, a bit like air fares!

Every year I use compare the market comparison site, always 4 weeks in advance of my renewal date - seem to get the best rates doing it this early and my renewal price for current insurer can never match or even come close

5 min job on compare the market (if you have a saved profile), then normally a 15 min call to current insurer to 1. get the 'best' renewal price and then 2. cancel the auto renewal when they cant match my new quote

20 mins all in, normally save £200+ on renewal price (28 years old, parked on driveway,12k miles per yr, fully comp with protected no claims)

Read that myself seemed to work this year with a lower price.
