Insurance Renewal

I moved all 3 cars over to LV two years ago on a multi-car arrangement - Mini Countryman (wife’s), Audi Q5, and the F-Type…..

Received an email yesterday advising of my renewal and an attached quote… increase of nearly 40%! No claims, reduced mileage…. I would have expected an inflationary increase but 40% - Criminal.

Will be shopping around this week…

Has anyone else seen significant increases in car insurance premiums?

Peter

Your lucky my wife insurance on a Fiesta 1.0 Vignale has gone up 88% with her current insurer and after looking at various comparison sites it’s the cheapest and the ridiculous thing is it only does about 1000 miles a year as we normally use my ftype.
We will just have to grin an bare it. Insurance companies are not user friendly and are only in business for profit.

That’s outrageous!!!!

I’ll still be spending half a day this week trawling through the comparison sites and speaking to LV to understand their rationale for these increase’s.

Having joined the F-Type club in April this year, I had a premium amendment to cover the last month before my policy renewed.

To my shock, upon renewal, the price for comparison of 2022 v 2023 with LV shot up from £590 to £796. No other changes to policy cover with a Cat A (low risk) postal code, full NCB, and me being another year older. I do have NCB protection, motor legal cover, and additional personal injury, so that accounts for a small chunk of the policy costs.

They did take 5% off that price when I phoned, so worth a call to discuss. Nothing else came close to being that low on comparison sites for equivalent cover (and don't make me laugh about Direct Line's quote - £1,900!!!)

Any comparisons with insurance are almost meaningless as there are so many variables. But, I went for esure direct recently, premium of around £200.

Rik, I will definitely be speaking to LV once I’ve got a feel for what other providers are offering - but will steer clear of Direct Line!!

Paul, I’ll bear that in mind - thanks

Privilege wanted to increase my premium from £679 to £1099 and to be fair the car was damaged in a car park so I had made a claim non-fault claim. However, renewed with Tesco at £649 with a Clubcard discount too!

I had the same scenario with Aviva. They wanted an huge increase with the from and to amounts similar to yours. Now with Tesco too! 👍😁

Insurance due soon and as my BMW 5 series insurance went from £315 to £525 (only managed £425 by changing company) I expect an increase is on the way.

Seems an industry wide change

I'm with LV so awaiting my renewal with some trepidation now. Hope it doesn't wipe out the saving on car tax now my F-Type is now 6 years old.

Lots of people seem to be receiving big increases in renewal premiums this year.

LV went up 25 % for me at this renewal. I called them and said I'd like it to be cheaper and it was dropped down to a similar amount to the previous year!

I've heard some F type owners have moved to Churchill.

my renewel was £000s more, went online and got quote same price as last year, within £20, strange thing is it was with the same firm:)

Mick, that’s good to hear. I intend to call them this week and have a ‘discussion’!

Seems a bit extreme to move to Manitoba - but at least in an F you can outrun the polar bears 👍

🤣 Hastings is also an alternative for the less adventurous apparently. Wonder if winter tyres are compulsory for Churchill........

General picture is that the automatic renewal price will be up, possibly as much as 100% as was mine with Admiral (no claims!) If you call them you will most likely get an offer.
The algorithms all have different weights so there's no sure-fire way. Aviva are going for market share so worth a try but someone else said they were expensive.
Basically lots of calls / browsing required this year.

Update:

Rang LV to voice my displeasure at the 44% increase, their response, dropped the new quote by £50!! Will be doing a lot of internet searching over the next couple of weeks!

I'm with LV, renewal 3rd July, last year £550 so expecting renewal to drop into inbox soon..... Based on comments above looks like I'll be shopping around.
