Hi all,
I don't mean to cross post, but I started on the american .com site and they suggested I come over here (from https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/idiot-here-has-broken-2019-f-type-sim-card-slot-266698/):
I feel like an idiot as I've been a little heavy handed and I've broken the slot for the In Control Pro sim. The card goes in but isn't constrained well (i.e. its lose, on the left, I think something on that side has broken).
I see on ebay there are many audio interface modules (jpla-19e110-bb) that look like mine in the arm rest 'cubby'.
Such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/2308724607
Do I simply have to go back to the dealership or is this a job I could potentially do myself (I have reasonable skills, mainly computer building based, but no mechanic)?
Questions are:
- Can these devices be changed, or will they be encoded some how, preventing the swapped-in device from operating?
- Are these all interchangable (I assumed to look up the exact code when extracted)?
- Finally, how do I find out HOW to extract it? For example, I know the side panels of the main console on the passenger and the driver side can be pulled out, as I've done that to have a little look and can see a couple of screws passenger side (but it's really tight there) and I also know the plastic trim above the arm rest pulls out and I can find multiple devices behind there, but the plate with the USB/Sim Cards is well below and forward of that. I'm not sure if they're holding the USB/Lighter/SimCard panel in or whether that can simply be pulled out? If so, how?
Would you recommend this? I'm asking as the car does NOT have the option to connect to an external WIFI network as per the previous models. Given this I can't get the car onto the internet and therefore use my new Maps 3 year subscription with Live Data feed. The previous revisions had this.
Any help/advice would be really appreciated, although I expect the worst. As stated, I feel like a ham fisted idiot. I was really careful, but there was a moment when I pushed (with a screw driver) a little hard to get the in/out mechanism to work.
Kind regards
Carl
