Hydrodipped F-Type badges

Black pack is fitted plus we have had the front winglets and side skirts done in piano black also. <br />So it's strictly black and red!

Really like it - can you do us a favour and in another thread you mentioned the front wheel spats. Could you post a picture? Thinking about getting them.

So much better and again im biased, i have everything that is'nt body coloured, black or c/fibre<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" /><br>

<div><br></div><div>You're out of luck! I have just searched through my laptop and I don't have any pics unfortunately. I'm sat in a hotel in Stranraer waiting to join a ship tomorrow, so if you can wait 4 weeks, when I return I'll get some shots for you?</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Thanks for all the positive comments, colours are subjective I know, but I think Black and Red is more suited than Chrome and red. Next will be a red growler badge with the shades as fitted to some P7's...if I can find out where/who made them!</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div> </div><div>That is a nice combo <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div>

<blockquote>Finally have the black badges and tips finished....<div><br></div><div>What do you reckon?</div><div><br></div><div><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/Black_badge_1.jpg" height="525" width="700" border="0" /><br></div><div><br></div><div><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/Black_badge_2.jpg" height="525" width="700" border="0" /><br></div>

<div> </div><div>Hey Tel,</div><div> </div><div>What did you have done to your exhaust tips? I wanted mine black - but dipping them is not possible as its all one section. I seen some end caps but they protrude out a few inches.</div><div> </div><div>Very interested in how you achieved that black exhaust look!?</div>

I didn't want to grind the welds off, remove the shrouds, have them plated black chrome only to find that I didn't like it. Plus the fact that once it's done, it's done!<div> </div><div>So, I went for a temporary' ish solution. I used some high temperature heat shrink sleeving! I cleaned the chrome tips with ISO alcohol to remove any debris/wax/polish and cut the sleeving to size length ways, and shrunk it on. Bit of a game as the high temp needed to do it means that you can melt the surrounding bumper plastic if you are not careful...that's where liberal use of tin foil comes in!</div><div> </div><div>It took a couple of attempts to get the right finish and fit around the area where the exhaust exits through the hole, but at least I have an idea of whether I can live with the black style or not. Simple case of cutting with a scalpel if I want to revert to chrome again.</div><div> </div><div>It will improve looks wise once the insides of the exhaust pipes black up with soot. As part of my detail regime the insides get polished as well as the outside, so it still looks a bit new, even after 8K miles. The outside two pipes are sooting up a bit and look better.</div>

Hi tell <br />badges look great, finally got mine back and fitted. Had them done by wicked coatings they replaced the double sided tape which made it easier to fit.

Nice work on the exhaust tips ... you say that youre letting the inside soot but to my eyes, and given the high standards you keep the car too, I actually like the look of the clean inside to the tips, for me it suits the car really well ...

<div> </div><div>Excellent - Wicked Coatings did mine as well, and I'm very pleased with the result. </div><div> </div><div>I bought a roll of 3M special badge tape and cut round the letters myself, which was both therapeutic and tremendously taxing at the same time! I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, but a good learning curve nonetheless.</div><div> </div><div>Out of curiosity, did WC charge extra for the tape?</div>

They charged me £98+vat and carriage and didn't mention the tape .I assumed they would come back bare. I called them and I'm sure the chap said they make up a template. The tape is a 3m product the same as you used. <br />

<div></div><div>...same as I was charged, except I had to do the tape bit which was...tedious!</div>

<blockquote>
Thanks Tel - sounds a bit to complicated for me! Great job tho</blockquote>
<div> </div><div>well, if you are down this way anytime in the future, you can drop me a line, and I will gladly do it for you.</div>

Hey Tel - can you point me to the product you used to shrink wrap the exhaust? Done some google searches but seems a minefield.<div> </div><div>What is the permanent solution you considered?</div><div> </div><div>Thanks for the offer by the way - very nice of you ;)</div>

What I used is heat resistant 4'' (102mm) heat shrink. I stubbled to find one that would shrink down enough and still be resistant to the heat generated on the exhaust tips. They get too hot to touch when you roust it!<div>I have searched for the company that supplied mine, but they seem to have gone down the pan!</div><div><br></div><div>The other option is to grind the spot welds that secure the tips to the rear silencer box, and send them off to be black chromed. This seemed a bit too invasive for me right now.</div>

Hi Tel<div>Just wondering if I could maybe trouble you for a couple of pictures of those front wheel spats please?</div><div>Thanks</div>
