how to remove the side skirts of a 2022 f-type

You remove the sills from the car first, then the sideskirts can be separated from the sill by undoing several torx bolts which secure into captive nuts in the skirt. They cannot be removed in situ.

@muexan As cj10jeeper has mentioned, you need to remove the complete side sill from the car to access the 'hidden' torx bolts (about 12 each side from memory). I did this job couple of years ago when fitting illuminated tread plates to my 2018 R-Dynamic.

Unfortunately, removing the side sills comes with a few complications:

1. You will have to remove the existing aluminium treadplates to access 4 torx bolts that hold the sill to the chassis across the door opening. It is difficult if not impossible to remove these without damaging/bending the treadplates. Not an issue for me as I was replacing the existing plates with illuminated, but this could incurr additional costs.
2. The sills were fitted at the factory with the doors off. On a finished car, the door edge at the hinge end does not leave a lot of room to manouver the sill and allow for easy removal. You have to (very carefully) twist and turn the sill with the door at various openings to get the sills off without damage.

They say a picture paints a thousand words, so a video should give you more than enough insight as to what is required. See the following video for all you need to know about removing the side sills from an F-Type. Car in video is a 2016 , but the components are exactly the same for the post 2018 facelift cars.
