how many manual f types registered in uk

Can anyone point me to somewhere that i can find how many manual f types are registered each year in the uk and what colour they are ?
I have used "how many left" but that just puts all f types as having auto gearboxes.
I am ideally looking for a 2017 onwards storm grey or carpathian grey one but if there are none registered i may have to widen my colour choice.

No idea on the number, but I'd say they're very rare, which is why Jaguar has stopped offering MT as an option. I think I saw a number of 4% being manual (but my memory may be faulty!).

I'll run an API query against the DVLA database.
2L or 3L?

Is that a typo ? should that read H.P.I ?
It is the 375 bhp i am after. There are a couple of black ones advertised at the moment.
SCM. yeah ,that is the percentage that i read but that includes the 335 bhp model too.
Cheers chaps.

This proved slightly more tricky than I first thought.

Extract of data from Department of Transport VEH data set for cars registered for the first time by make and model for United Kingdom

For Make "Jaguar" Model "F-Type"
----------------------------------
TOTAL New F-Types Registered in UK
2013 Total = 1,218
2014 Total = 2,183
2015 Total = 2,111
2016 Total = 2,230
2017 Total = 2,181
2018 Total = 1,868
2019 H1 = 960 (Q3 data not yet available)

----------------------------------
Of which how many were manuals? / Percentage of total sales
2013 Total = 0 - 0.00%
2014 Total = 0 - 0.00%
2015 Total = 60 - 2.84%
2016 Total = 63 - 2.82%
2017 Total = 33 - 1.51%
2018 Total = 46 - 2.46%
2019 H1 = 4 - 0.41%

----------------------------------
Of which engine splits - V6/P340 or V6S/P380 R-Dynamic (model numbers changed for MY18 - Q1/Q2 2017)
PERIOD - V6/340 - V6S/P380
2015 Q1 - 4 - 6
2015 Q2 - 10 - 9
2015 Q3 - 9 - 9
2015 Q4 - 7 - 6
2016 Q1 - 8 - 4
2016 Q2 - 11 - 9
2016 Q3 - 10 - 10
2016 Q4 - 8 - 3
2017 Q1 - 4 - 5
2017 Q2 - 8 - 1
2017 Q3 - 3 - 6
2017 Q4 - 5 - 1
2018 Q1 - 6 - 18
2018 Q2 - 2 - 11
2018 Q3 - 3 - 4
2018 Q4 - 1 - 1
2019 Q1 - 1 - 1
2019 Q2 - 0 - 2

----------------------------------

So if your looking for a V6S/P380 manual from 2017 onwards then you're looking for 1 of 50 registered in the UK.

I cannot find the colours of the 50 possible results out of the 12,000+ UK registrations (presuming all 50 are still in the UK and on the road)

Happy hunting.

Wow ,thanks for that it looks like i am just going to have to keep looking every day until the right one turns up.
At least i can count them off as each one comes on sale.

It's odd how Jaguar "data" does not match the DVLA or Department of Transport for vehicle registrations. The only around 4% are manual statements must be from production including worldwide sales and not just the UK.

Similar with the dropping of the V6. The V6 has out sold the 2L every year including 2019 Q1/Q2 in the UK but they dropped it because of higher demand for the 2L they say.

Thanks for this, very interesting. So, from this I can decipher that the car I’ve just bought (my16 v6 sc coupe) was a late 2014 car registered in early 2015 as on of only 4 manuals that quarter!!

I too have a Manual V6S Convertible. Built in 2014 registered early 2015 built to 2016 MY spec. It has since transpired that it was a prototype, hand built vehicle & therefore is in an extremely low VED bracket as it’s classed as a “one off” build. Apparently it could be the oldest surviving Manual there is...???

AJB2 that is really interesting. I couldn’t figure out why my 64 plate early Q1 car was built to MY16 spec - you and I are 20% of the V6 / S manual coupes that year! How did you find out it was a prototype ?

AJB2 sorry that shouldn’t have read coupe as I know yours is convertible but the stats are the same the split is given as v6 or V6s.
One thing that made me wonder, when I bought the car it was the only one on the jag website that didn’t have a tax bracket named. I wonder if this also means it will be a lower ved? I take delivery end of next week so will let you know on here.

Hi Majordog. Firstly, how much is your road tax per year? That will be the first indication. Mine is only £270/year instead of £565/year. It’s because the car has been classed as a “One off build”

When I was looking to order mine, just before MY20 production stopped, I was told that the V6 was being discontinued due to emissions controls. There was no mention from the sales people, or any of the trade magazines etc, about the 4-pot being supposedly more popular, all the noise (no pun intended) was related to emissions. I wasn't even aware that there was an alternative reason out there

To keep my post slightly on topic, I kind of miss not having a clutch, as I have blipped the throttle on downshifts naturally for more years than I care to remember. Unlearning that habit has been the only downside for me from having the auto. Sadly, I didn't get a choice as I was just a few days too late to order an MY20 variant so I had to have the MY21, albeit with a V8 instead of a V6.

Not wishing to drift off topic either but yes it was because of emissions the v6 was dropped. My post was from Dec 2019. I was told at Fen End in October 2020 that is was because of 2L popularity but the instructor in the car said that was rubbish and it was emissions.

Back on topic, slightly, you can blip the auto. Dynamic, Sport in manual on paddles then downshift with stab of throttle and if you catch it right, it will blip, downshift and pop and crackle. Catch it wrong and you lurch but once mastered it seems OK. Unsure whether you can left foot brake and blip. Not tried.

Oh, ta for that tip. I had tried blipping on downshifts but got the "lurch" and gave up :D. It was such an integral part of the way I drove for about 20 years that it's been a very difficult thing to stop myself at least trying to do (I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to press the non-existent clutch pedal!

Also apols for quoting a very old post, I hadn't noticed the original thread was 2 years old :o

Mine is one of the 63 made in 2016 and it is a red 3.0 V6 supercharged manual. Manuals were rare when I had an XJ-SC 3.6 manual and that was due to the American market only wanting mainly automatics with a V12 engine. For me a manual is a better driving experience and read that people were converting their XJS from an automatic to a manual. I wonder if the American market has influenced the reduced manual production again.

Thanks I had it for 5yrs and spent a shed load of money on it and if I had a bigger garage I would have kept it. I am not a fan of the modern Jags but the F type was the ideal replacement. When I drive it I have the same feeling as when i drove the XJS, where you know it is not a clone in design of other models on the market. I hope to keep my F type for quite a while now and I have just had the brace struts replaced which is well documented on the forums.

I used to bad mouth autos when all that was around were 3 speeders. Heavy, slow and very hungry on juice.

Every car that I had was manual.

That was, until I tried a Jaguar.

In today's traffic I wouldn't entertain another manual. To be honest, autos these days do such a good job, it leaves focused me to watch out for buffoonery from other drivers!

When I bought my F Type back in early 2015, I was looking for a manual. I ended up with an auto. Firstly, I couldn’t find one, but the main reason was I was talked out of it. I considered buying a new car, but the dealer said the manual would not hold value because very few want them.

There is nothing wrong with the ZF8 auto box, but I do find myself in sport mode using the paddles or stick to shift the gears, more often than I do in my Defender! The Jag probably suits a manual box more than people think. I never got a chance to test drive one, so went with advice and bought a nearly new auto ‘S’
