Jamie,<div><br></div><div>Good idea to keep the originals - Did you have to pay for them or were they extras I wonder?</div><div><br></div><div>I had thought about going for chrome and then hang them dipped in either carbon or matt black or white film at a later date.</div><div><br></div><div>We have clocked up 600 joyful, noisy miles and loved every minute of it. The mechanics and the drive are absolutely fabulous, I tend to keep it in Dynamic mode most of the time when I fancy a squirt (which is, most of the time!) and occasionally drop it into "shopping'' mode.</div><div>Did a wee acceleration test and managed 0.66G foot firmly planted, and that was with a bit of spin off the line as well!</div><div>Ran a couple of 95RON tanks through and just gone over to Nitro (98 I think). Initial observation is it's a little sharper on the throttle - or maybe it's psychological<span style="line-height: 1.4;">?</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">Been on the case detailing - </span>Underneath<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> is done and protected. Been working on the top side. I'm not overly taken by the finish on the Jaguar paint, there ar</span>e more<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> than a few blemishes spotted to a trained eye and I'm not sure how to get rid of them. Mainly dirt and dust in the paint, but also the odd pin hole and of course the dreaded orange peel, which is just unforgivable, especially considering the extra cost of IRR from Jaguar UK.</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">I am in touch with the dealer about the flaws, however I have my </span>doubts<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> as to have they may manage to sort this out.</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">Still, here's a few tasters....</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">Dusk day after 80 miles:</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/DSC_0331.jpg" height="465" width="700" border="0" /><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">...and inside:</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/DSC_0345.jpg" height="465" width="700" border="0" /><br></span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">..and underneath:</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/DSC_0009.jpg" height="465" width="700" border="0" /><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">From a drivers perspective a few improvements could be made:</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">1./ Gear paddles need to be made twice as long as they currently are</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">2./ Need to know when in Drive (Automatic), what gear is actually selected</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">3./ Central rear view mirror should be motorised and part of the </span>memory<span style="line-height: 1.4;"> package</span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;">4./ Satnav is painfully slow to enter </span>destinations</div><div>5./ Satnav could say name of road that is being turned into</div><div>6./ Wing mirror option to dip both sides on reverse (I'm paranoid about kerbing the rims!)</div><div>7./ Default ECO mode to OFF when starting up</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>When all said and done though, it's a joy to look at, and the sound is to die for! </div><div>It's my first venture into a super car territory, and I'm so pleased with the choice that I made. </div><div><br></div><div>It's interesting to see just how many Porsches we have spotted and only 3 other F-Types in our travels so far. The Jaguar is so much more involving to drive than a C4S IMO.</div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div><div><span style="line-height: 1.4;"><br></span></div>

Hi Tel, fantastic looking car, love the interior. I went for black with red stitching, but was disappointed to find that less than 60% of the stitching is actually red, most is still black, the dash, grab handle and steering wheel, this should have better considering the option price.<br /><br />When I purchased the chrome pack, the dealer offered it as a dealer fit option, saving 166 squids which meant that I could also keep the originals, bargain. <br /><br />As you know I have put some serious time into correcting the paint finish, it is right now, but it is not right that I should spend 110 hours putting it right, the car should have been sorted from new, but then jag got almost everything else right, so I should stop grumbling.<br /><br />Once I get my new black wheels (8th sept) I will post some new pictures, I am upping the tyre widths by one half size as well, as I think the tyres need just a little more spread, so I have ordered the P Zero's as 305/30-20r for the rear and 265/35-20r for the front, should look fab !<br /><br />Enjoy what is left of the summer !<br />Jamie<edited><editID>Selborne</editID><editDate>2014-08-25 23:24:20</editDate></edited>

Thanks, Jamie,<div><br></div><div>I am so pleased with the red interior - it was a last minute change of heart from Ivory and extended Ivory with Cirrus carpets to Red with Red extended leather with Jet carpets - so glad I did.</div><div>The dealer missed off the extended leather in Red from the order - No great loss, only the sun visor with mirror (which will be coming).</div><div>The missus hates me holding the mirror up so she can do her lippy!</div><div><br></div><div>You certainly did put some hours in - I don;t think I should have to on two accounts: </div><div>1./ I expect paintwork on such an established marque to be better quality i.e at leafs better flatness than my mothers Audi A1 - It is not</div><div>2./ I do not expect to go round the car and spot at least 13 Blemishes ranging from pin holes to trapped dirt in the clear coat, touched up chip on the rear spoiler and a rear boot lid where the clear cote is still soft, underspray, and primer showing through in certain areas - it's small issues, but to a detailed, detailer, it's massive cock ups - especially considering the extra cost of the special order paint.</div><div><br></div><div>My hourly/daily rate will be too much for JUK to pay I expect, so we will see what the dealer proposes and take it from there - I will keep you all informed though as it affects ALL cars I beleive.</div><div><br></div><div>Ironically I had my car ''detailed' by an external guy as I was unhappy with the quality of the paintwork on the cars for sale at their dealership..the end result speaks volumes.</div><div><br></div><div>I guess most customers don't care or notice?</div><div><br></div><div>I look forward to seeing the Carlos Fandago's once they are fitted <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div><div><br></div>

Do keep us updated on the paint progress - I hate any blemishes so will be interested to hear how they are dealt with. <div><br></div><div>I have already told the dealer that any swirl marks or other bad bits resulting from the PDI and valet will mean they have to rectify professionally. Given the cost of these things, I expect flawless paint ... a bit too much to expect I know but it's something to strive for :)</div>

Hi Tel,<br /><br />Superb photos and thank-you for the information re the paint. I will be sure to check mine out when I collect it on Monday. Out of interest, what did you use to protect the metal underneath? <br /><br />Good weather forecast for next week so I'm hoping to put a few miles on, once I've completed a thorough clean and polish. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Scoob,<div><br></div><div>Thanks - The other half takes the photos, she has not long finished a college course in DSLR photography.</div><div>I'm at Kodak Instamatic level!</div><div><br></div><div>I use Corrosion Guard from Quicksilver. Been using it two decades on numerous bits of kit - There is nothing out there that comes close.</div><div><br></div><div>Weather looks brill (hopefully no the kiss 'o death!). I'm at the 700 mile mark. Look forward to hearing all about yours.</div><div><br></div><div>RE: Paintwork. It's difficult at the dealer to really inspect and digest the finish, as, if you are like me, all you want to do is drive and make sweet exhaust music. However, my suggestion is get it under false light (tubes, sodium etc) and just take your time to look at the reflections to see if they reflect smoothly as a mirror would, feeling for any lumps or bumps, whilst viewing reflections/light at various angles. Try to resist using your hands to feel, as you will introduce tiny scratches.</div><div><br></div><div>I have been 'detailing' to serious levels since 1986, so I feel a little qualified to comment - and, if you need any help or direction, drop me a line. </div><div>I put the word detailing in quotes as it is such a misused word these days by peeps going out, buying a few products, a dual action buffer and setting up as ' Online Detailers' and ruining vehicles. They have no eye for detail really. Rant over - Time for a blast!</div>

Hi Tel,<br /><br />Many thanks for your very helpful reply. I have ordered a couple of cans of quicksilver corrosion guard and will treat the exposed metal with it. Completely take your point about checking the paintwork over in artificial light. Perhaps I should have asked to collect it at midnight but I doubt the dealer would have been too happy to oblige!! <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> <br /><br />Regards.<br /><br />Scoobydoo

Goodo...make sure you cover everything well...the overspray is a mare to get off (hot water and a micro fibre doused in QD will work though)!<div>Let me know how it goes, and if you need any help, just hollah...Tel</div>

Looks fantastic , nice to see another IRR colour, love the red interior , I bought mine used and just have the black performance interior, the 1st owner did take the trouble to match all the headlining in the same colour , but would love to have had the red seats like yours , im still chuffed to bits with mine though.

I'm still oggling at it in my workshop - I have to agree that the red is a timeless colour, and the red interior works for me....many folk have commented positively on the colour.<div><br></div><div>I just don't admit to the other half that she was indeed right to go for red instead of the Rhodium Silver!</div>

<div><br></div><div>I took a visit to the dealer yesterday for a vanity mirror sun visor to be fitted, I also had the pleasure of meeting a chap who will be dealing with my paint issues directly with JLR group. </div><div><br></div><div>I feel it's a little early to comment further until JLR have had time to consider my case, however as always I'll keep you all updated of the progress.</div><div><br></div><div>My main concerns are:</div><div>"Orange Peel" finish on pretty much all panels</div><div>Soft clear coat on boot lid</div><div>Nibs in paint (dirt) (Bonnet, lh door to name but a few)</div><div>Lack of paint in one area above rear light cluster!</div><div>Marks in paint (Actual metal work finish?)</div><div>Two chips on the DRS that were 'touched up' with a garden fork</div><div>Flaws in metal finish around fwd door shuts</div><div>The list goes on unfortunately.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>My car was 'detailed' prior to pickup, so fortunately there was no marring or swirls, but it failed to pick up on any of the above!</div><div>I am a bit embarrassed parking it next to my mothers A1 as that has a better finish IMO!</div><div><br></div><div>I'm sure this will be rectified favourably by the JLR Group, and my dealer has been spot on.</div><div><br></div><div>Out of interest, I wonder to what standards manufacturers have to paint cars these days and that goes for QA as well?</div></div>
