Hi recently purchased 2017 Ftype 340 in Caldera red. Really pleased with car. I bought the Car from a Ashley Nickeels near Guildford. Service was exceptional.

Only one thing to sort out is some gravel rash in font of rear wheels. Is this normal and how have others resolved.

Hello & welcome to the forum. Beautiful car 😍

I’m slightly OCD & would have a good bodyshop paint the whole of both side sills. Then have a quality PPF applied for future protection. The OEM PPF patch is not large enough.

If you on IG check out The Bodycentre Norwich. They have recently announced a new product which is a spray on PPF. They respray the panel then apply the coating. This gives 200 microns of future armour that can be polished to perfection 😄👍

I’m sure there are other options, wrapping etc.

Didn’t intended on getting a red Ftype it found me. Right car and condition. I have just come out of a Guards red Cayman. Not complaining really love the car. A real step up in the luxury department from the Cayman and love the low down torque.

Interesting!

A Cayman GTS is one of the upgrade options I am looking at next year, your comments about a step up and luxury make interesting reading.

Enjoy

P

A modern GTS will be comparable. Mine was a 987.2 which was starting to feel outdated even though it was in great condition and only 35,000 mls. We did a 2000mls euro tour in it and it felt fun but hard work. Plan on doing tour next year COVID permitting. FType feels like it will be more suited.

Are you going 981 or 718?

718, but the more I drive the F-Type and the addictive sound it has the more I think I will upgrade to a newer V6 or V8.

Went on holiday to Cornwall last week and only saw one F-Type and loads of Porkers, I like being a bit different!

In the Jag, you'll be let out into traffic, too!

Hi Darren. So it was you who got to Ashley Nickells before me last Monday then. Well done. I’m just a tad jealous! Hope to see it at a meet one day. Looked like my ideal upgrade from a 2014 auto. Grrrrrr. I’ll keep looking.
As for the rash, normal unfortunately. Red is easy to paint but it won’t last. Cars are for using so I’ve decided to live with it.

I think for road use the FType is a better car. The Cayman ultimately handles better but you will only really get to explore on a track if you have the ability. For me I don’t have the ability and not into track days to precious about car.

I’ve seen that already my red Cayman it was like I was invisible at junctions. People see to like the Jag more.

I was lucky. I was on Auto trader when they posted advert Friday night. Phoned up first thing Saturday to view then and car was in Jag having a service. Car looked so good in pictures I put a £500 deposit over phone so they would hold until I could get there Monday night. Gamble paid off and car was as good as the pictures showed.

Gravel rash in front of the rear wheels seems to be normal. When I had my car front end protected with clear film, they added film panels to the area mentioned. It's solved the problem. Why not film protect just that area for a lower cost solution.
By the way, my front end PPF has been on for 3 years and 25,000 miles now, no added blemishes in that time!

Congratulations Darren, the red suits definitely better this one than the Cayman!
I confirm you'll be let out into traffic :D
Hope to get one day an opportunity to drive an F-Type with a manual transmission.
Enjoy,

Thanks for replying

How much do think it will cost to PPF that area?
