Help needed with 5 year service plan

Hi Chaps,

My car a 66 plate Registered in September 16 came with the 5 year service plan, the car is at the dealer at this moment and they are telling me they can't find the service plan.

The car was serviced by the same dealer for the last two years using the same service plan.

Have any of you came across a similar situation and when does the service plan actually end with the 5 year plan.

Any help much appreciated.

Service plans are usually provided by EMAC.
You could try contacting them directly.

Hi simpleR,

Thank you for your reply.

After several calls and emails the dealer said they did find my details and the last service just being carried out is covered , originally they were totally convinced the service plan was not on my car and that I had to pay for it.

Apparently some of their systems was not showing my service plan.

I know this is a long post, please bear with me.

Having just had the 5th year service done by a jaguar main dealer yesterday of the 5-year inclusive service, I was concerned by the lack of detail on the invoice provided unlike other years.
This last one and 2019 and 2020 done by the same dealer.
First of all, they contested the fact that the car did not have a 5 year service plan as mentioned previously which I clearly did.
My main concern was that they changed the spark plugs which were due as it was the 5th year service and having read some storeys about dealer pretending that they changed the plugs, but they did not.
On previous invoices all the details of parts used were itemised, on this year they just wrote 5th year 80.000 miles service, and I was given a different sheet with lots of ticks with the jobs completed, no mileage or reg number on it, also on the online service history all other years it is all itemised, this year nothing other than 80.000 miles service.
When I questioned this, I was told that previous years I was given a copy of the invoice that normally goes to the underwriter of the service plan, which it was not the case as I have the two previous years invoices clearly addressed to me.
After a lengthy discussion they assured me that the plugs had been changed and I decided to leave.
The car was serviced on Monday, on Tuesday morning Just before they handed the keys back to me I was told that there was going to be a delay in handing the car back to me, and they explained that as the car was being driven out of the workshop it threw an error code associated with a cable linked to one of the sparkplugs not being connected properly, the service advisor had barely finished to speak and I see the car being parked up in the usual place I normally picked it up from.
While the car was in their care my app only showed that the doors and bonnet were not open for more than two and half hour.
I have also spoken to Emac the service plan providers and other than being difficult and mention that the previous owner did not pass the plan to my name they declined to help me due to data protection and that I would have to take it up with the dealer.
The dealer did not quibble the 2019 and 20120 service via the plan at all, I don’t understand why they are being so difficult this year.
Does anyone know how long the 5th year service would including the change of plugs take, is there a way of checking if the plugs have been changed without taking it to an indie, or anyone came across this situation before.

Any help or input very much appreciated.

My diff oil was shown as having been changed as part of the 165 point check list and new diff plugs before hand over 3 weeks ago but I am going to check levels of diff and engine oil which had also been changed - engine oil is showing as being overfilled !

If you have a V6S then the diff oil needs changing at 4yrs.
You should always get an itemised bill and OSH should be updated with what was done (although you do seem to have to ask for that sometimes!)
Why are some dealers so bad!

Keep on the case, I would not be happy.

If this was in the USA JLR would be facing some kind of lawsuit for dealer gross negligence and i aint kidding . :(

Plenty of unsatisfactory dealers in the US (have you seen the complaints of AWD cars with oli overfills?), but the lawsuits ain't happening.

Many years ago I bought a used approved BMW had nothing but trouble with it , dealer was useless and was left to deal with BMW Uk , much the same as jaguar customer care , this like it will be my last jaguar

Can't argue with that - there's nothing better than my F-Type that I'd want, and with Jaguar going all electric from 2025 ....
Just hope my independent stays in business. ;)

I like the ftype or should say we like the ftype as the wife loves the car but we normally change car every 3 years and as retired old souls in 3 years time will just be down to one car , I am not looking forward to that and electric cars I can tell you . But .......

I reckon fossil fuelled vehicles will be around for at least another 20 years - you just won't be able to buy them new. Lots of people won't be able to afford new electric cars, and those who might consider older EVs probably won't be able to charge them cheaply through having no off-street parking. And the government will have to raise taxes on EV charging to compensate for the loss of fuel duty - EV implementation really hasn't been thought through thoroughly .....

Just A quick update,

Car will be dropped off at an independent on Wednesday for a once over to see what was done if any!

An update,

I had the usual follow up call that you normally get a couple of days after the service asking me if I was satisfied with the service, needless to say I explained in detail my dissatisfaction and course of action I was taking.

Soon after the call I received a further call from the head of business and explained again in detail what had gone on and promised to sort it out.

I have jus received the right invoice copy via email and original copy being posted to my home address.

Car is still going in for the once over and see if throws up something else and some treatment for surface rust.

Many thanks to you all for your contribution.
