Heated Front Screen

Had to use mine for the first time this morning. <br /><br />The passenger side cleared very quick. The driver's side remained fogged with an almost perfectly straight line of clear (passenger) and misted (driver's side) after a min or so. <br /><br />Does anyone know if the screen is wired in halves and if it might be covered under warranty?<br /><br />Another disappointing find in my Approved Used ownership experience.

Mine works on both side but I can see a clear line / gap in the middle of the windscreen where it usually takes slightly longer to clear.<div><br></div><div>So, I think it's screen is wired in halves. </div>

Mine works both sides at the same time - have to say I haven't noticed a gap down the middle but mine does have seem to be in a rectangular pattern rather than following the curve of the windscreen right out to the sides

It might not be the same. A friend had the heated screen replaced on his evoque recently and discovered that only the driver's side was demisting. Turned out the fitter had only connected the driver's side and hadn't realised the passenger side had a separate supply. Took about 5 minutes to fix.

For info, the screen is powered in 2 separate halves. It would appear the driver's side is faulty but a check will confirm. <br /><br />Have it booked in for a warranty attempt. It could be something simple, it could be a new screen. <br /><br />We'll see.

Not sure if this helps, but years ago I bought a three and a half year old XK8. Private sale - not via a main dealer. (loved that car) and it had six months left on an extended warranty.<div>Anyway, the first time I needed to use the heated front screen there were large parts of the screen that were obviously supposed to clear but did not.</div><div><br></div><div>I took it to the main dealer, at first they said that windscreens were not covered under the warranty.</div><div>I explained I had no issue with the windscreen but the problem was obviously an electrical fault.</div><div>He relayed the "argument" to Jaguar and they approved a repair and I got a new heated windscreen.</div><div><br></div><div>Just thought the experience may help if you end up in a debate with the main stealers over what's covered under warranty.</div>

My local dealer (a Jaguar Service Centre as part of a Land Rover dealership) seemed to think it would be covered and we have a great relationship with them so I'm hoping he's right.
