I have a 2017 400 sport convertible in Yulong white with the LED headlights. I washed the car a week ago and the lights were not cracked. There has been some slight condensation in the lights but no physical damage.
I dropped my car off with the detailer today for ceramic coating, he washed the car including an Iron removal treatment. He called me after he'd dried the car to ask me if I was aware that the lights are cracked. I immediately went down to inspect. I was horrified to see major cracks and crazing across the headlights, on both headlights. They are definitely damaged to the point of needing to be replaced.
I am at a loss to understand how this happened. The detailer is highly respected and I trust him. He assures me that the car has not been bumped in his care (it would be a bizarre knock that would break both headlights anyhow).
Could it have been chemicals that damaged the lights? It has been frosty here and the car has been parked outside overnight. Does anyone have any ideas what could have caused this, is it something that can randomly happen to a pair of headlights at the same time?
I haven't taken photos and the car is still with the detailer. He is fitting ppf to thr lights to hold them together for the time being. I know I'm in for a big bill replacing the lights. I'd be grateful if anyone has a view on what may have happened.
