I've had 3 installed in the past 2 years and consider it to be an excellent system. I'm not going to say which of my cars do or do not have it, but would make the following comments:
Chose an installer who has previously fitted this system to the exact make and model. Its a complex system
Consider the bundles as they often have of tracker too
Don't have stickers displaying it's fitted. Best that any morons simply can't start the car than advertise why
Recode the sequence to your own and something that's easy to remember and input (even if the steering wheel is upside down
Use the tech it has - for instance you can make your phone a digital Ghost2 key so it will unlock the system when your mobile is inside the car. You can also drop it off to garages and it's time and mileage is limited

Is it good ? - well the cars are still safe so far and I have video footage of thieves checking one of the cars vulnerability
Would I buy again - certainly
You can also forget faraday pouches and turning off comfort access as it cant be driven or started with signal boosters

Following theft of my F Type on the day I purchased the replacement I had a Ghost 2 fitted and have been using it for last two years. Steering lock as a visual deterrent but very happy with the Ghost 2 and to date had no issues. Works well in valet mode for service and MOT and I will be fitting one to every car I purchase until something better comes on the market. Very reasonable price (2021@£400) and peace of mind is priceless having had previous taken off my drive by smashing window and access to OBD. Not heard of any tangible claims of being able to defeat Ghost 2 ( May be a matter of time) except from tiktok warriors.

I hear there are 2 options when installing Ghost2 in the way that the immobiliser works.
One is where the car will not start until the code is entered.

The other is the car may start it but as soon as you select drive or reverse it cuts out. With this method though the display will throw up a drive or transmission on the dash when it cuts out. But will clear after you put your correct key combo in to disarm.

Just wondering what people's thoughts are on both configuration options?

I'd rather the engine didn't start - it's not good for an engine to be started and then stopped before it's got up to operating temperature. Remember all the Nikasil issues a couple of decades ago?

I did read an article about Nikasil... hopefully no-one tries to steal the car too many times, or the owner keeps forgetting to put the key combo in correctly..
I like the idea.. if someone does get in it's an extra deterent with the car starting up/stopping, draws attention.

I've never heard this mentioned as an option for customers to select and I have had a few of them installed across diesel, petrol and electric.
My understanding is that the way they connect into the canbus and interact with the ECU is different depending upon the make & model. For instance on a Full BEV the engine 'starts', (but it's not a start like a petrol or diesel, rahter the dash indicating it's powered up), then switches off if no or a wrong code is entered. On the petrol and diesel the engines I have the engine simply won't start. It may well on different makes and models requires a signal from the gear selector or gearbox to trip it.
I stand to be corrected, if someone finds credible reference to the customer selecting the start method in agreement with an installer or Autowatch

Personally though if I did have an option I'd always have it to simply not start. Leave the thieves thinking the key/signal booster didn't work, not that an immobiliser is in play

Morning , so I can confirm that Ghost II does work on the F Type as indicated above with regards to disabling the gear shift operation

Ive find them a Faff even with an easy code to put in. Im thinking about getting one but must have the iphone thingy

Absolutely no faff whatsoever with the iPhone app. Just get in the car with the phone, Turn on the ignition as normal. 5 seconds for it to deactivate Ghost and off as per normal. Hardly a price to pay for such a level of protection.
