I never have put my cars in a garage, I always figured they were waterproof already. <br /><br />With my new FType I feel like it needs a home, my question is how far is too far?<br /><br />I am thinking of italian Red floor paint, white walls, spotlights and the red/white Jaguar logo hand painted on the far wall. When discussing with friends they suggested maybe red carpet and steel plate flooring for the wheel lines? <br /><br />I wonder what ideas other FTOC have incorporated into their designs!<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/927/IMG_7978.PNG" border="0" />
 
Worked out that when we went on holiday it does fit in the garage but the clearance either side is REALLY tight - less than 5cm either side of the mirrors. It doesn't go in there often.
 
Mine's in the shed with the tractor, the quad and all the mowing and rotavating kit. Keep telling myself it's only another car after all and not a museum piece! At least it's under cover.
 
My garage is big enough to drive in, have the car doors open and walk around the car quite well, so i'm quite fortunate and although the floor has been painted its looking a bit tired these days. The walls are painted in an off white/cream but they haven't been plastered so it has a rough finish.<br><br>I would like to put a PU/vinyl/rubber flooring down but when I have looked into it in past years, I have kept delaying any decision to do it because it's not cheap to do.<br><br>That said...I think the biggest issue for most people is clutter. Garages are clutter collectors, so it always spoils the look and makes it difficult to keep clean and dust free....but painting a concrete floor definitely keeps the dust levels to a minimum. <br>
 
We're the only household on our street that actually uses the garage for its original purpose and have always kept our car in it. The van sits on the driveway as I'm not too bothered about it. We cycle to work most days so the F-type only gets used at the weekends. I really like it being tucked away out of sight and sheltered from the elements. <br /><br />Being a new build house the garage is a bit tight but we've got plenty of shelving and stuff in our garden shed so can fit the car in. The mirrors are tight but you just have to be careful. The back end of the car is never as wide as it seems in the mirrors. Just helped each other the first couple of times we did it. <br /><br />I go in at a slight angle so that I can then straighten up closer to the passenger side and give me more room to get out. I have foam on the wall so I can rest the door on it. Also leaves room for the commuter bikes up the side of the car. Only need to move one of them to get the car out.<br /><br />I plan to paint the floor at some point but it's just getting round to doing all the prep to make sure I do a good job. Keep putting it off! I like the idea of the jaguar logo on the wall. I did think about a grey floor with black stripes for the wheels. <br /><br />D<br />
 
Mine is also a new build, quite literally two inches either side and a squash and squeeze to get out. We were thinking of incorporating the garage as living space and having a new garage built in the drive. I replaced the standard garage doors with sectional ones, which do away with the door frame and gives and extra 2.5 inches either side. (My parking marshall had refused to assist, as it was a bit nerve racking previously). <br><br>Easy peasy to reverse in using just the door mirrors now. I line up the rear wheel on the chevron tape (Screwfix finest) and it goes in straight, inch perfect. <br><br><br><br><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/739/MickGaragePhoto.jpg" height="607" width="456" border="0" /><br>
 
I like the black floor tiles. Could be tempted by them rather than the hassle of painting the floor. Thanks for that! <br /><br />Any problems with them when they are wet? Did you pop some silicon sealant around the edges where they meet the walls?

So much less dust around as a result of laying them.<br /><br />I didn't bother sealing the edges...you could if you wanted, but I haven't seen the need on mine.<br /><br />So much nicer to kneel on instead of concrete! Although I've read if you buy the other type of pattern from that website, they're a bit harsher on the knees. Even got a little ramp at the entrance from the same place which clicks on the tiles.<br /><br />Amazing how a few bits of rubber flooring in my garage can please me so much <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I'm sharing your pain on the garage width. I have posted this before - but it's still valid.<div>I painted the floor red and walls white, which lightens the space considerably. The floor needs repainting every 3 or 4 years so maybe the plastic tiles would be a better solution. And I agree that the junk at the other side of the garage distracts. I must give it a good clear out one dark rainy day.</div><div>Finally - I have two laser beams installed, One to align the car as I only have a theoretical 47mm each side and the other to let me know when the car is far enough in to close the garage doors.<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/699/Garage_Tight.jpg" height="468" width="700" border="0" /></div>
 
Here's a shot of the laser beams. The one shining on the garage door helps me align the car as I can see it on the car bonnet as I approach the entrance. The other one lines up with the bump on top of the dashboard, then I know the car is far enough in.<div><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/699/Laser_beams.JPG" height="455" width="570" border="0" /><br></div>
 
That Bri is inspirational. The first time I got in the garage I needed all members of my family and five minutes of driving. <br /><br />Where did you source the lasers?

Thanks Captainham......did a quick calculation on their online tool and it's suggesting that I will need to find about £900 behind the sofa in order to cover my garage floor.<br><br>Food for thought.........just not too keen on black. It's a bit dark and it's likely to show up dirt really well.....hmm..<br>
