Funny Behaviour

Hi All,

I went to start my car today and after one or two cranks it shut down. Tried again and same thing. Third attempt and it started fine.

When driving I was getting a message saying that the start/stop button was being pressed whilst driving (it definitely wasn’t!)

Does this sound like a battery related issue?

Checked on my code reader and it’s suggesting the battery is 12.5v.

Any help appreciated.

David

If you checked the voltage straight after running the engine it could give a misleading reading - best to check after the car has sat for a while to remove the surface charge.

It could be a faulty starter button. Without the keys anywhere near the car (open it first), rapidly press and release the start button a few times to try and free the mechanism in case it’s a bit ‘sticky’ in operation. The contacts within could be gummed up if it’s not getting a lot of use

Thank you, I’ve given this a go and all seems ok with it.

I perhaps should have noted I had just cleaned the car, I’m generally very careful but perhaps this could’ve been something to do with it if water got somewhere it shouldn’t have.
