Fuel grade

I try to get Shell VPower nitro+ (99 RON) whenever I can. If not I use Texaco or Tesco equivalent. Seems best on the Shell stuff though.<br /><br />Regards.<br /><br /><br />Scoobydoo

As Scoobydoo mentioned - Shell Nitro +.<div><br></div><div>There is a thread I started that compares the different brands, and this one remains the best overall.</div>

Yep running ours on it whenever we can get it (most of the time). Tesco, Texaco, bp, no shell near me.

Exactly the same on my V6s.<br /><br />I really wouldn't worry about it. Diesel I think is very different at supermarkets due to additives and how it burns, I don't think petrol is such a problem.<br /><br />I tend to put in better grade when I see it and the queues are less tbh. I've not really noticed any performance or mpg difference.

As I am in Spain I did not know which to use as we have both 95 and 97 octane here. I wrote to Jaguar in England and they said use 95. It is about 30 cents a litre cheaper so seems a better long term option. Have noticed no degradation or loss of performance so will stick with itunless I anything to the contrary.

Is there really a massive difference from 95 or 99 ron in performance? Here in Monza race track grounds you can buy 100 ron!!! Not sure if I should give my V6S some of this hot juice. What are your thoughts guys?

I asked this question of my local Jaguar service manager some years ago when I had an XJ petrol <div>His response was that there was no firm recommendation from Jaguar but that he had noticed that on service, the filters of cars where he knew that the owners were using supermarket petrol, were always dirtier.</div><div>My own experiments with various XJ' s an XF and now an F type led me to conclude that fuel efficiency improves by as much as 10% </div>

From someone who worked in the oil industry .. in refining. <div></div><div></div>Don't buy supermarket fuel. The base fuel is all the same and comes from the same refineries. It is the additives that are "different" for each brand. The big names, Shell, BP, Esso etc put some good stuff in their fuel. <div> </div><div>The others I wont comment too much on ! And supermarket fuel can be pretty variable.</div><div> </div><div>So spoil your Jag and go for the branded stuff. Quite often a higher RON will give you better fuel economy too - amazingly - if (and it is a big if in an F Type) - you are sensible with the throttle. </div><div> </div><div>I just got 33mpg out of a steady motorway journey of 200 miles plus in the V8R with premium fuel. Which is frankly a testament to the Jaguar engine management technology. For a 5 litre engine that is pretty impressive ! </div>

The TV program fifth gear done a fuel comparison test on all the different grades and shell V power 98 Ron gave the best results. There was a slight increase in power on vw golf they tested. There was no difference between the supermarket fuel and BP 95 Ron unleaded.

I'm no expert on fuel (other than knowing how to pay for it and always using a premium brand) but looking in the Owners Handbook (page 137) it seems you can use anything in the UK (95 minimum). I have occasionally filled with Shell V power but never enough to figure out if it improves mpg or performance. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/699/IMG_20160401_0002_NEW_v2.jpg" height="565" width="700" border="0" />
