Fuel Consumption Question

Hi all, I have very recently purchased a second hand F-Type Convertible 2.0. It took me a few days before I worked out how to reset the Trip Computer, but since doing that I have been tracking my average fuel consumption because it is far higher than I was expecting. I expected somewhere in the region of 30-40 mpg based on reading reviews, but I am actually getting something much closer to 20 mpg. I've not been driving particularly quickly, mostly sticking to speed limits and, since resetting the trip computer, I've done about 5 journeys of around 10-15 miles each.
Is this normal/typical consumption, or does it possible indicate something wrong that I might need to get looked at?

The journeys are quite short, cars need to be warmed through before they get representative mpg. I wouldn’t expect to get decent mpg until after about 10 miles really.
My 3.0S only does mid to low 20s until warm then can get 30-40 depending on how I drive it (high teens if I’m pushing).

You need a decent run to really get to know the mpg. As the temperature drops under 10 degrees that’ll hurt the consumption and extend the warm up time too.

Agree. I'm getting mid 20s on gentle, sub 10 mile journeys from cold, but that improves to low 30s quite soon if you're obliged to tame your instinct to hit the speed limit in a hurry! That said, I don't find a bit of enthusiastic driving using the paddles hurts too much.
Anyway, the important thing is to enjoy the ride, and if it means you make a few more visits to the forecourts, take the opportunity to quietly enjoy the admiring looks from the other customers :D

If I'm on a long run 50+ miles, steady 74mph, I can get 34-37 mpg. Short journeys around 20 miles I get anything from 12-19mpg.
I would say, if you're worried about fuel consumption then maybe an F Type isn't the right car for you.

I'm not sure it takes as much as 10 miles to warm up an engine enough to be efficient, but such journey's are much more likely to involve stop start driving, urban, etc. before you can settle down on dual or motorway.
On my old XF 3.0 diesel commuting I'd get 25mpg, but if I set it up on the M42 and reset the gauges once at 60mph I could get 60mpg, at 60 mph over 60 miles with cruise control on. Boring as hell, but shows what driving style and road type does.

As for the F Type I've never even looked at fuel consumption in 8 years of ownership. As above if you're bothered then it's probably not the right car and if you do get high mileage then you're probably not enjoying it enough ;)

That does seem a bit low. On local journey's, supermarket, gym etc I get between 23-25 mpg and on longer trips 30 miles + mainly on dual carriageways & motorways I get between 37-41 mpg with the dynamic engine setting.

The information is stored on the phone app so it is easy to monitor and not require the constant resetting of the trip computer.

Enjoy the car!

My P300 between 23-40mpg generally depending on length and speed of Journey, averaging out at 30mpg overall. Slightly better than my Evoque! And a much nicer Drive :)
