FS: Immaculate Flat Bottomed Heated F-Type Steering Wheel - T2R20989PVJ

Evening,

I sold my F-Type back in December and doesn't look like I'll be buying another one. Therefore, I'm selling my flat bottomed wheel which I bought brand new back in 2020. It was only fitted for around 18 months and within that time covered between 5k to 6k miles, so it's immaculate. The quality of leather is a lot better than the "plastic leather" my 2013 car came with. It really lifts the interior and overall driving experience in IMO, can't beat a chunky steering wheel.

I'm 99% this is also heated, but my F-Type didn't come with a heated wheel, so didn't have the button to activate and test. Please research this one yourself to be 100% sure.

Part number is T2R20989PVJ

Looking for £450 plus postage & insurance if required (based in Aberdeenshire). Please let me know if you'd like additional pictures.

Yes please!
I’ll pm you.

Err, hang on I don’t think it is heated.
It should have a couple of wire connectors at the 12 o’clock position.

Can you please check against the part number on the wheel itself before we proceed.

Appreciated.

Hi,

Replied to your PM, but thought I'd post here for others who may be interested.

Almost certain that's the heating element going into the bottom of the wheel, my standard wheel doesn't have that.

Heated Steering wheel for sale on ebay, you can see the blue connector at the bottom as mine has. ( T2R18613PVJ)

and this is my original non heated wheel which I still have. Don't think it's worth advertising.

Ah ok - thanks.
I’ll check tomorrow and come back to you re payment if it is.
Cheers.

Sure thing. I'd be much happier if you do your own due-diligence just in case :)

Please feel free to share your findings on this thread, I'm not trying to deceive anyone. Will hold it for you. Speak tomorrow.

Just pulled out the blue connector at the bottom of the wheel, clearly marked steering wheel heater :)

That sounds good!
Can I please ask you for a photo of the rear with the red plastic cover removed.
Thank you!

Ah that’s not what I’d hoped to see unfortunately.

Jag parts confirmed this morning that the part number is for a heated wheel.

But it’s missing the contact ring on the back.
Also the two, what look like 1/4” 90 degree push on connectors at 12 o’clock that you usually see in heated wheel adverts.

By the time I add the control module and fitting cost I’m in to quite a lot of money if there is something not quite right about it, so unless anyone can add a definitive comment I’ll pass on it and maybe someone else will find it a bit of a bargain if the heating does work.

Thank you for your patience with me on this and all the info you’ve posted - much appreciated.

Ah, that's a real shame. Glad you checked though. I never got as far as looking to convert, just wanted the chunkier steering wheel.

Guess it's better suited for someone who already has the base heated wheel and looking to upgrade.

Just to confirm should others be looking for a heated steering wheel upgrade it should have a slip ring on the rear of the wheel as shown of the attached image. In essence a simple 2 ring connector that allows the positive and negative to connect to the wheel loom whilst allowing the wheel to rotate lock to lock.

I'm not sure if this can be retrofitted to the wheel as when I did the project I put a heated wheel onto a car that did not previously have on so my focus was on the module, steering wheel button and connections inside the wheel

Good information yep.
The wheel definitely started life as heated, as per the part number, but apparently the missing slip ring isn’t available as a separate part, which makes getting hold of one quite difficult / potentially expensive.
In scz4’s last photo you can definitely see the two male push on connectors at the top, but I’m not sure where the associated bit of wiring loom is.
Certainly a very nice condition and feeling wheel as it is, and for someone with access to the parts would make a real bargain.

Yeah good information for sure.

Wonder if I left the slip ring on the car when I put the old wheel back on, really not sure.

As I mentioned, perhaps best for someone who already has the standard heated wheel and can swap everything over.

It seems highly unlikely to me that the part of the slip ring that belongs on the steering wheel was left on the car as it's designed to be rigidly fixed to the wheel and rotate on the part fitted on the column
The steering wheel just wouldn't rotate or it would grind parts together
Should be easy to take off one wheel and fit to another if you can get the parts

I actually went the 'other way'.

Our MY2016R came specced with the flat bottomed steering wheel which I had changed out for a conventional one when the car was built

I found the girth of the FB wheel too much, especially if hanging onto it and working away at it for a wee while, i.e at a a track event. The part where it won't slip nicley through your hands when returning from and oversteer 'event', I saw as a disadvantage.

I have to agree with you (well I don’t, but I do :) ). Afaik flat bottomed wheels were designed to give more leg room and easier access, but is now adopted as a sign of prestige or sportiness. However my Nissan squashy rental is Spain had one last year…hardly needed to unleash the full potential drive from its 1.6 diesel..
From a personal perspective no way could I drive off road with an exccentric wheel spinning in my hands. I’ll keep round, although they do look better
