After a few weeks of listening to a front “rattle” that was akin to marbles being shaken in a tin (whichI had self diagnosed as a SC coupler failing) I bit the bullet and booked in for remedial treatment. Not only was it evident on cold start up but also whilst warm.
As I plan to keep the car and frankly, probably spending far too much time obsessing I decided to upgrade the old flanged type coolant pipes whilst the SC was off. Coupler was replaced with a solid upgrade. However it turned that this was not the cause of the noise - actually it turned out to be a damaged idler pulley.
Oddly the noise was very similar to many of the video clips kindly shared on this site. Thought it may be worth flagging on here just in case any one else can benefit.
