Well, it’s been three days since the new ownership began.
I haven’t covered many miles yet, but thanks to the British weather, I’ve had fun driving in the rain, damp, and sun.
So far, I’ve learned a few lessons. The grip on dry, hot roads is fantastic, and the engine sound is frankly intoxicating, even though I’m only halfway through getting used to the car and building my confidence.
In wet conditions, I had a lot of fun. I was a bit worried about the rear-wheel drive, as I heard that the first generation could be a handful, but the second gen they've clearly figured it out as it's quite predictable. The traction control works wonders while still allowing me to let the rear step out a bit.
I had some fun on a damp, uphill junction, and spinning through the gears from first to third was amusing. The best part is how manageable it is in the wet; when I switch to rain mode, it becomes nicely tamed, with no worries about losing grip.
Of course, if you drive recklessly, it can bite you back, but following the approach of "slow in, fast out" and keeping the excitement to dry, sticky roads makes it an awesome experience.
I may have accidentally left the fuel cap a bit loose, which I'm hoping triggered the ECU light. I’m hoping it’s just that and not something more serious, but the dealer will sort it out.
And did I mention the roar? It's a great sound.
Oh, and the fuel consumption is impressively good. During a steady commute, I got 29 mpg; on a non-steady return, the number was much much lower, but it clearly has the potential to be a good daily driver.
I’ll post pictures in the coming days or weeks.
Safe driving, everyone!
