Favourite F-Type Colour and Why ?

Word to the wise; if you park up at the ferry terminal in Ouistreham to visit Sword beach be very careful leaving the car park. It is tight getting up to the barrier exit reader and I kerbed the offside front as I left…grrr.

Don't get me started on the French and their car parks. I live 20 minutes from France, 20 minutes from Germany, have driven and parked countless times in both countries over the years and it's just fascinating how the French build car parks, garages and driveways. Always with a priority on slowing cars down and protecting the driveway with tight bends and high sharp concrete edges. Whereas the Germans often have lower, sloped and sometimes rubber covered edges and sometimes even foam padded pillars in public garages. So always watch out when parking and entering/exiting places in France. I never park in French public garages with the F-Type unless I've made my due diligence before and concluded that it's ok. Indigo garages are often ok but should still be checked before.

Definitely a no to white and black. Especially black, nightmare to keep clean and why hide all those lovely lines. There's a reason "larger" people tend to wear black

I actually think black often shows the lines better than white, as long as there's some light, the car is clean and especially if there are some contrasting elements like on my previous pride and joy below. The best way to hide lines is a murdered out mucky car with everything including the wheels all black. Definitely not my cup of tea, but I think that many recent BMWs and some from the Bangle era look best that way because they have such horrible lines.

Started out looking for British Racing Green with silver wheels but found it hard to find. Settled for the next best thing which was Dark Sapphire with silver wheels. Both colours work similarly where depending on the lighting they can either appear as dark with a more classic flat look, or in the sun really pop with the metallic flake. Italian Racing Red was the third choice. Outside of that I do really like Firesand and Bluefire as well.

I don't think any colour looks "bad" on the F-Type though as others have said (outside of if you wrapped it in lime green maybe). Black is a colour I've always avoided on every car and my iX3 is already white along with the wife's Polo, so didn't fancy three in the same colour on the drive. I think some of the greys and silvers do look good, but a bit of colour goes a long way on a sports car in my opinion. It was also pointed out to me by a visiting friend from the States that British car parks are just a sea of the white to black spectrum which is very true. Maybe it's our more reserved nature vs our more ostentatious cousins across the pond.

I had some special colours on my TVR’s, wanted something a bit more subtle on the F-Type was going to order new so went through all the colours on the configurator and kept coming back to British Racing Green. Then a Jaguar dealer near us advertised a BRG one with delivery miles and a lot of options at a good discount, went there and immediately placed a deposit on it and collected it a few weeks later. Really like the way the colour comes out in the sun.

Jaguar is continuing its tradition of cars for the, er, less than honest members of the population by making their colours so colour-shifting - think of the arguments eye-witnesses will have describing a getaway car!

Great pic of the BRG

I wanted a metalic colour with 6003 Gyrodyne alloys. I thought I'd end up with one of the greys, which I really like.

In the end I went for this one in SVO Sanguinello with black trim.

It's very hard to photograph as the colour flips and confuses the camera. It also changes in different lights. But this picture of the tail end is pretty close. I've never seen another in real life.

I'm the second owner but if I specced one new and money was no object I'd also be drawn to Portofino Blue, Tormaline Brown and possibly Bluefire or BRG.

Didn't know that Sanguinello was an SVO colour. Really nice colour and reminds me of IRR but a bit brighter. Seems to be super rare anyway and I've only seen one in the flesh. Here's mine next to a Sanguinello one and one can see that the Sanguinello stays quite bright even in cloudy conditions while the BRG gets very stealthy. If you ever go to a Breakfast Club meet in Gaydon you'll probably bump into a nice chap called Dave with that Sanguinello R.

Thanks mate.

That BRG suits the car so well. A nod to Jaguar's heritage and it really enhances the F-Types lines. Good choice.

Good to see another in Sanguinello too - IRR with a bit of orange sums it up.

I've heard about that meet-up and keep meaning to get myself down there, so I'll definitely look out for Dave if I do, thanks.

Is French Racing Blue ( aka Reims edition) a marmite
Colour?

Of course not, Marmite is brown!
Who doesn't love a blue F-Type? And any other colour? ;)

Not in my book! I never had a blue car but I think it's a great colour for a performance sports car. I'm not sure if I'd have an all black wheel and I'd look into painting the calipers red to give it some contrast.

All the colours work well I think. It's a good selection. What ruins a lot of specs for me (personally - don't take it to heart ;) ) is gloss black wheels. You just end up with big black featureless holes where you lose the wheel design detail and it detracts from the overall look.

I went for Bluefire as it was exactly what I was after but I do really like the deep reds and greens that several people have. I very nearly chose one of those.

Couldn't agree more on wheels, while all silver also can be a bit too much. Especially with the darker colours I think a bit of both worlds is best. One of the reasons to why I think the carbon blades look so fantastic on the F-Type.

Dark Sapphire in Shade and sun

Wow! Looks great! Specially with the chrome trims and those wheels 😍

By the way, should we start a new thread on chrome VS black pack? 😁

Bright colours do seem to pop nicely on F-Types and show all those glorious curves!

Initially wanted to get one of the lighter blue ones but once i saw an Italian Racing Red in the flesh... decision was made! Still love it over a year later. Changes colour subtley in different sunlight i swear :D
