Hey guys,

Just at the beginning of my search for an F-Type, all very exciting stuff.

Looking for;

V6S coupe, auto
Pan roof
Black pack
Black interior
40k max miles (though interested to know opinions on higher milage examples)

Nice to have;
Black wheels
Any extras are a bonus to be honest

Any colour bar silver or green (sorry to the BRG purists).

Made some enquiries on this-

Seems to be a fairly decent price but seller is a bit vague on service history which is a bit concerning. Also an advantage for AWD, as I'm a bit nervous about the RWD cause I don't have a garage and the horror stories about the injectors seizing up are terrifying.

If anyone knows of similar being sold, or has a beauty they're interested in selling, please let me know!

Thanks,
Joe

If you have a reg then I can lookup the service history.

I'm on 43,916 miles and had it since new. (V6 400). Not had any issues mechanically but it has a full service history all on time and correct. I would not be put off by higher mileage cars as long as they have been looked after.

This is great, thanks so much! Actually has a much better history than I thought.

Any recommendations on what I should also look out for?

Not too bad.

There is a 2yr gap between 2018 and 2020 services.

The 5th service record is missing but could of been done, ask for paperwork.

For a good itemised service record there is no mention of rear diff oil being done. Definitely get that done and checked.

Ask the seller how it got through a set of rear tyres in just 7,000 miles.

I read the service a little different. It's coming up for its 8th service in July so has 2 clearly missing. Has another due in July based upon pdi check.
Possibly seller has unrecorded paper evidence, but to me seems unlikely as JLR and Indy are all registered. More of a haggling point than a big worry.

On the subject of tyres interesting what he did to the front tyre to get 'a tear, caused by separation or partial failure of its structure'

Pothole most likely ....

This is exactly what I’m here for, thanks for the input guys.

My knowledge of car buying is limited so I need all the help I can get.

Evening guys,
Got my eyes on a contender, wondered if someone could check the service info for me? Reg is; SJ65 NAW

Cashmere gold? That seems odd, unless that’s a shade of red I’ve just discovered 😄

Might need to ask some questions about that. Thanks again, Simple R

It'll have been a mistake when the original dealer set up the car on the system. DVLA has it correctly as red. My guess is they select the colour from a list. My car is listed as Osmium which is another old paint colour prior to the Ftype (probably because the SVO colours weren't listed, but at least they chose a blue).

I figured that would be the case.

I’ll see what the seller says about why it’s been off the road for six months.

probably parked up for winter if a private seller, if its a dealer probably hasn't had much interest for this type of car through winter months.

Another example where the owners appear to have forgotten that the service is annual, unless earlier due to high mileage.
PDI in July 15 should therefore have 7 services so far Vs the 5 it has, with another due in 3 months

PDI in July, but perhaps not registered until February (not that unusual). Warranty and service intervals start from registration.

It's a scenario that comes up occasionally. There's an owner on the F Pace forum who got a prompt for the first service only 2 months after it was registered/bought! JLR confirmed that the dealer should have reset the service interval from registration.
