F-Type V6 Sound 2019

Did anybody already compare the sound of the 2019 F-Type V6 (which include the new particulate filter) to the old ones? I only found a comparison video or opinions about the V8, but not the V6 unfortunately. There is a lot of drama conerning the new V8 because the sound seems to be castrated compared to before.

Maybe someone who got a new V6 F-Type this year could make a small sound video?

Welcome to the forum falkenhayn.

Maybe a little introduction would be good too - and photos of course :)

Thanks Lunar.

I will make an introduction soon, however my F-Type V6 will arrive in about three months so it will take some time. ;-)

So was somebody else able to hear the sound of a 2019 F-Type V6? It's really a shame that there is still not even one video on youtube of it.

I remember you asking me this on another thread. I think you’re stressing over nothing. It sounds great. My F-Type (also a P340) is just over a week old now and I’m not driving it hard (whilst running it in) but have had some pretty great pops and crackles from the back. How would you want the sound clip recorded? Car stationary or moving?

Also, can anyone explain how you get those pops and crackles? I haven’t figured out how to do it other than by accident...

The whole point is the 2019 doesn’t have pops and crackles like the older F-type versions back in 2014-2016 etc. They did a software update.

Doesn’t have pops/crackles at all or aren’t as loud as previous V6 models? Either way the car makes a great noise...

Vika will mean the latter - less than older cars
I’ve got a 14 plate and have driven a 19 plate - both sounded great. Can’t say I noticed a significant difference

As for the question about forcing pops / crackles, easiest way;
Exhaust on
Dynamic mode
Get on the paddles and lift off at anything above 3,500rpm

You are right blueone, thank you and the others for the responses. It's good to hear that the exhaust doesn't seem as castrated as the one for the V8.
As far as I have read the pops and crackles are still there, just not as extreme as before.

Exactly, exhaust on, dynamic on, change gear to S and paddles were the best combination vor pops.

I would still appreciate a video blue one, it's alright if you just record the start up and some revving. Thanks.

You might find the farting kicks in above 3k revs.
When you lift off just tap the throttle - not enough to accelerate - a few times and you’ll find the reports extend for longer 😉

I haven’t done a video/audio yet but I just wanted to say I tried out the instructions re getting the pops and crackles (didn’t drive the car hard to do it) and let off at just over 3,500rpm once the car had been driving for an hour or so, and the sounds are outrageous! You honesty have nothing to worry about. Will sort a video/audio at some point. I couldn’t stop smiling. Sounds fantastic and so fun!

And, as noted, tapping the throttle lightly keeps the pops going ... and going ... and going .... :D
BTW, you don't have to wait an hour, as soon as the temp reaches normal you can go for it! ;)

Youtube recommended me a video of a F-Type 2019 which has a start up at 0:50 :

I think there isn't much of a difference but you do notice that the sound is a little dampened because of the OPF compared to the F-Type 400 e.g.:

Well, I will make my own experience very soon anyway, just got a message that my P340 will arrive on monday or tuesday. I will share my experience then. ;-)

In those videos the 400 has a cold start. The 2019 model has a warm start. And we don’t know if the exhaust button was on while they started the engines.

Shouldn't make a difference - warm or cold the valves open by default on startup. Or are you suggesting you disable the valves before starting (i.e. you switch the car on without foot on brake first)?

You are correct, it's hard to say if the 2019 V6 has the button activated or not. I used to notice that a start up in Dynamic with the button activated is louder than in Normal. Also it's not quite a warm start but it may be in between where it's also just a bit quieter.

Of course it’s great and I totally love my early V6S, but listen to this. Straight pipe La Ferrari . Skip to 8.12 if you’re impatient

Some do that before turning on the engine. In videos I have seen a cold started F-type sounds louder at startup.
