F-Type R Coupe Order Placed

Hello All!<br /><br />I've just joined the forum and thought I would say hello and introduce myself as I placed my order last week.<br /><br />I am already a Jaguar owner and am trading in my 2014 French Racing Blue XFR-S in 2 weeks time to be confined to my white Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSI until the arrival of my new F-Type R coupe whenever that may be...<br /><br />I have ordered the following:<br /><br />F-Type R RWD<br />Italian Racing Red<br />Panoramic Roof<br />Jet/Redzone duotone seats (which I have to ask your opinions on!)<br />Black/Diamond polished Gyrodene alloy wheels<br />Black Pack<br />Climate Pack (with flat-bottomed steering wheel)<br />Parking Pack<br />Air Quality Sensor<br /><br />I test drove an F-Type R at the start of Feb and instantly loved it. The noise is what got me hooked in a way that my XFR-S didn't despite being a great drive and very comfortable super-saloon.<br /><br />I'm away from home at the moment but I'll try to do the usual forum stuff to my profile (avatar/signature) when I get back.<br /><br />The biggest question I've got at the moment is the seats that I've ordered and whether they'll go well with the Italian Racing Red exterior. It's not the full uber-RED interior, just the black and red no cost option performance seats. If anyone has this combination in any F-Type (coupe or convertible), I'd really appreciate a picture!<br /><br />Anyway, hello again!<br /><br />Seb

Hi, and welcome. That's gonna look the dogs bollocks mate. I've just bought a white V6 S with red leather performance seats, and I was a little worried how they would look, but in the flesh they look fantastic. That said I do understand you thinking about hownit will go with the IRR....I'm not sure. If I were ordering new on the combo I probably would have went black with red stitching but its all a personal preference. Externally though, IRR with those gyrodynes and black pack is going to look sexual....a couple on here have the same combo...awesome. At the end of the day, its a red car with red leather, it'll work.<br /><br />I'm collecting mine in two weeks and it seems a long time....I don't envy your wait but boy will it be worth it!

Congrats!<br /><br />It seems like it will look a lot like mine:<br /><br />http://krokeidebilpleie.no/?page_id=1230<br /><br />I have a different interour though, with black leather and red stitchings/red seatbelt. Unfortunately not any pics from the inside.<br /><br />

Just found one interiour pic here:<br /><br />http://krokeidebilpleie.no/jobber/1507jagf/915.jpg

Hi and welcome. <br /><br />I think the red seats will look great. <br />As you say the red is confined to the centre of the seats and seat backs, so the rest of the black interior will contrast nicely with the red paint exterior. <br /><br />

congrats<div><br></div><div>one piece of sincere advice</div><div><br></div><div>get the car protected with paint protection film</div><div><br></div><div>the front end kit is pretty standard but the rear arches and lower rocker panels by the sills get peppered by stones on this car</div><div><br></div><div>take the opportunity while you can</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Thank you ever so much for the welcome and the opinions.<br /><br />I think I'm going to stick with the red seats for the moment. I did consider Keyless Entry (seemed like an expensive option for the sake of not having to press a button to get into the car) and Blind Spot Monitoring (just because I have it on the XFR-S, probably not as important on the F-Type and is easily fooled by barriers) but discounted them both.<br /><br />I'll try to keep you guys up to date. Good info on the forum!<br /><br />Cheers,<br /><br />Seb

Thanks for that V8FTW. So you recommend the front end and sills and arches in front of the rear wheels? Any recommendations and price estimates?<br /><br />Seb

hi Seb<div><br></div><div>I had mine done by Drayke Fields who are opposite the Jaguar factory</div><div><br></div><div>http://www.draykefields.co.uk/archive/41-bluejaguarftyper/</div><div><br></div><div>they did the front end kit (suntek film) which is a standard template (laser cut) which covers full bumper and splitter, 1/3 bonnet, headlights, wing mirrors</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>I then went back, after seeing the stone chipping on the rear arches and lower sills and had them do Custom film on the lower rocker panel by the sills, rear arch haunches and the front and rear wheel splashes.</div><div><br></div><div>They did a top top job.</div><div><br></div><div>The custom work I had done they have now laser scanned and so can print the pieces at much lower cost for future customers.</div><div><br></div><div>For me, the standard front end PPF was c.£600 and the custom stuff was c.£400 ... so £1k all in, but protects your car from day ONE and means you can drive it hard and it will ALWAYS stay perfect and you'll never need to think about a respray again.</div><div><br></div><div>would wholeheartedly recommend. its an investment </div>

Thanks very much V8FTW, your car looks amazing!<br /><br />I will be picking the car up from Peterborough and have just seen that Paintshield are based there so could even go in straight from the dealer. I might have to give them a call. Anyone used them?<br /><br />Seb

Congrats on the new F-Type 'R' Seb. <div><br></div><div>I've been researching paint protection film for a few weeks, so I arranged a visit to Paintshield last week. I found them to be a very professional outfit and the type of car they were working on made the F-Type look like a cheep car. The quality of the cover is good. Because the F-Type's bonnet is so wide, they need to join the film to get complete coverage. The maximum width of the film is 60" (154 cm).</div><div><br></div><div>You can have the whole car covered or parts of the car. The only problem with having part of the car done is knowing where the first stone is going to hit. Even with the film on, there are edges that can't be covered.</div><div><br></div><div>I know some people on this site have had it done as there are some areas like the sills and rear arches that get the most stone hits. It's not cheep and it takes 3 days to do the whole car. It all comes down to budget vs how you will feel about stone chips.</div><div><br></div><div> </div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div><br></div><div>You might want to shop around for your PPF. I looked a Paintshield, but decided not to as they only do it from the templates and not a custom cover.</div><div>A decent installer CAN get the film to go across the bonnet in one piece and CAN wrap all the edges and return lips.</div><div>It does cost a hell of a lot, but if you plan on keeping the car as we are, then it is a false economy to do a half hearted job in our opinion.</div>

Seb,<div><br></div><div>I found this youtube clip with Red and black seats. Is this the effect you are going for ?</div><div><br></div><div>https://youtu.be/PunJGevSv8w</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Thanks ever so much for the advice chaps. I shall be weighing up my options over the next few weeks and deciding what to do (including phoning a few places for a quote) regarding PPF.<div><br></div><div>Thank you very much for the video East Winger! That is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for. I think I'm going to stick with the red seats and black belts. As an aside, it's difficult to find any reviews where the F-Type isn't loved! Thank you also to Tel for the photos that he has posted in various places of his F-Type R drop top with the red seats. Very useful indeed!</div><div><br></div><div>Latest estimate for pickup of the car is May. Excited is an understatement!</div><div><br></div><div>Seb</div>

if Paintshield requires a join across the bonnet then steer clear !<div><br></div><div>Suntek front kit covers the whole width of the bonnet no problem.</div><div><br></div><div>IMO, PPF is a no brainer on a new car if you remotely care about the appearance of your car, and sadly the rear arches and sills take a real battering on this car and are naked apart from a pathetic plaster provided by the factory</div>

I have Suntek on my F<div><br></div><div>I had Suntek on my previous R8</div><div><br></div><div>but on a previous previous R8 I had 3M Venture Shield.</div><div><br></div><div>I find the Suntek slightly thinner, but equally as effective - but its meant to be self healing in terms of scratches</div>

I would not hesitate leaving your car with Drayke Fields.<div><br></div><div>They are 100% trust worthy, have a secure and modern building. they have the scans for the custom bits on the arches and sills etc</div><div><br></div><div>and they are opposite the Jaguar factory so may as well go for a factory tour</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>this is my old R8 (one of them)</div><div><br></div><div>http://www.draykefields.co.uk/archive/26-redaudir8v10/</div><div><br></div><div>and this is my old RS 5</div><div><br></div><div>http://www.draykefields.co.uk/archive/22-yellowaudirs5/</div>
