F-Type OEM Car Cover

So whilst my F-Type is in for a replacement carbon fibre roof thought i would get my OEM F-Type car cover washed at the local launderette

Anyone else done this before - if so any issues?

Well i've never washed a cover so I cannot help with your question, Sorry! Guesses would be not too hot a wash!

But i was looking at buying the OEM car cover, which is quite expensive, so was wondering how good it is?

My inclination is to say don’t do it, depending on how it’s made or if there are instructions it can be machine washed
I’d fear washing out any waterproofing and damaging any internal padding or protection layers.
If it was filthy I’d hand wash it in a bath or clean bin/dustbin

+1. What he said!

well decided to take the brave pill and took it to the launderette

used a non bio-degradable / non toxic laundry wash as recommended on the cover - rinsed twice as recommended on cover - came out fine - did use the lowest temperature wash of 40 C and some of the marks around the edge did not come out but other than that it looks and feels a lot better (bird poo all gone as well)

If you're concerned about a hydrophobic waterproof barrier, get to your local Mountain Warehouse and buy a couple of cans of hiking boot waterproof spray.
Not that the OEM cover has any applied to it anyway from the factory... Its all down to the weave/material.

agree on the waterproof barrier - never worked for me - if it gets wet the car gets wet - ok the cover dries in the sun and as such so does the car but they ain't waterproof as suggested

i do use a second cheap cover on top now and that works quite well but car still gets wet in medium / heavy rain
