F-Type Boots

I’m new to the world of F-Type ownership and wanted members views of choice of tyres for an F-Type.

I bought my V6S MY14 6 weeks ago and love the whole F-Type experience, it came with Pirelli P-Zeroes, what are member’s experiences and views ?

I’m sure this topic has been raised before and I am also sure I will open a ‘can of worms’!

Hello Peter
I'm also a MY14 V6S owner and like yourself, mine came with P-Zeros all round from an approved Jaguar dealer late last year.
Because I've had some fun in the car this year both rears were SHOT so I chose to replace like for like, best price for the pair was £450 home-fitted by National all-incl.
Car handles as it should and feeling confident in both wet and dry conditions.
Cheers
Paul

As you guessed there are many posts on this subject. The majority have previously changed to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I found the original P Zeros on the early cars to be OK until they were down to 4mm in colder temperatures, when they were shocking.

The Pirelli compound might have changed since then, but I'll be moving to Michelin again when my current tyres need replacing, as I know they are good.

Many thanks - useful information.

Mine have a lot more than 4mm tread left, so should see me through the winter......at least I now know what option most owners are considering

Happy driving - Peter

As previously stated most go with Michelin PS4S and a very generalised opinion that those with AWD are mostly happy with the Pirelli’s and those with RWD are not!

US owners tend to use a fair greater variety of tyre makes though, and want much higher mileages from them too.

Hi I have a new pair Pirelli’s on the rear, put on by the garage before I purchased. Front will need replacing in a few months. I want to go PS4’s what the general opinion around different tyres front and back.

The consensus in here seems to be to go down the Michelin route........I’m too new to offer any practical/real life experience (at the mo)

Happy driving - Peter

As long as you have the same tyres on the axle you should be fine, for me the rears wear out at twice the rate of the fronts so I’m changing rears to PS4S whilst still having P Zeros on the front axle. Mine is RWD.

PS4’s it going to be. I had them on my Cayman and found them great in dry and the wet.

I've recently changed from P0's to Michelin PS4S's. Happy with the change, quieter & better grip, especially in the wet. As a bonus, the Michelins also have a thick rim around the sidewalls which protect the alloys if you happen to park too close or brush a kerb.

Brilliant - that’s very helpful and worth bearing in mind when it comes to changing tyres next year.

Speaking of rim protection on the Michelins......

I should point out that Jaguars wear shoes, not boots - those are for the Land Rover fraternity. ;)

Changed my 2016/7 V6S Coupe RWD from P Zero to Michelin PS4's and without a doubt handling improved and noise reduced.
Whilst about it I had the tracking and camber front and rear reset to Jaguar factory settings by Demon Tweeks as the P Zeros were showing uneven wear.
Incidentally, I purchased them online from ASDA giving the best fitted and balanced price.

Michelin all the way.
When I changed to Michelin even the fitment center commented on how good they are.
I've never looked back.
