Engine light.

Bum! I was driving really conservatively taking Mrs W out for lunch. Spirited driving by myself no problems. Driving gently and the light comes on!

I think I’ll have my local independent take a look at this. They are an Audi specialist and always looked after my S3 before I changed that for my F-Type, and Mrs W’s S4 Quattro very well. A local friend has his Aston DB9 maintained by them and gives good report, so I reckon an engine light fault on the F-Type will be no challenge for them. I can’t be arsed to go up to Bristol from South Somerset for Sytner Jag to do it, even if it is under warranty.

Same happened to my 21 car, called up jag assist they came to my house diagnosed 02 failure, returned a few days later fitted and cleared the fault.

Yes, mine is a failed O2 sensor too. My local independent Audi specialist, who look after my wife’s S4 Avant and previously my S3, downloaded the fault code for me: “Oxygen sensor signal stuck lean (bank 1 sensor 3)”. The F-Type is still covered, since it was new to me last March, under the approved used Jaguar extended warranty until mid April, so it’s booked in with Sytner Jaguar Bristol for them to sort it in a couple of weeks time.

I’m convinced the F-Type put her engine light on as a protest!! It came on during a really sedate conservative drive out with Mrs W for lunch and it stayed on since, and I have the car is booked in to Sytner Jaguar Bristol. Today couldn’t resist a spirited drive in the sunshine and relative warmth, despite the engine light being on. I properly floored it on a straight stretch; she obviously approved and dutifully turned her engine light off!

I’ll still keep the appointment at Sytner Jag though, the fault code was one of the O2 sensors so I’ll be wanting it replaced regardless.
