Drivers door rattle/creaking noise

Hi<div>Has anyone had any issues with creaking/ticking noises coming from the doors , driver or passenger , </div><div> </div><div>My drivers door is making the most irritating noise to the point its making me not want to drive the car.</div><div> </div><div>It started about 5 weeks ago and has got worse. It sounds like almost the internal trim on the door is loose and not clipped together properly ,or its coming from the area where the window meets the frame of the hood. </div><div> </div><div>Every time the car even moves forward an inch I get this plastic on plastic ticking/creaking noise and its right next to my ear , even the exhaust notes isn't drowning this out. Bit poor really for a car that's 1 year old , my previous jags had the odd noise here and their but they were higher millage 3-4 year old , this one only had like 4k on the clock when I bought it and it sounds like a child's rattle inside the door</div><div> </div><div>Steve</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>

Hi Stevo35,<br /><br />Not had any issues with mine but, if it's getting worse then sounds like something has loosened off. Your car will, of course, still be under warranty so a trip to your local dealer is the best way to resolve it.<br /><br />Hope you soon get it sorted.<br /><br />Scoobydoo

The only issue I get occasionally is if the seat is too far back and rubbing the rear bulkhead, it squeaks like crazy! I tap the switch to tilt the seat slightly and all is well. Worth looking at seat position?

First, check that a child's rattle has not been dropped down the side by mistake <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><div><br><div>Then check out http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-72/official-sticky-thread-known-issues-105493/</div><div><br></div><div>I'm sure I read on one of the forums that their is a factory fix for loose trim bits/clips within the door?</div></div><div><br></div><div>I'll do some more digging....</div>

I have a kind of intermittent tinkling noise as if someone has a set of keys jangling about. I've taken everything out of the car to see if it's not something I've left in, but it remains.<div><br></div><div>The fact that it's intermittent means it's so difficult to explain it to the dealer. </div>

I have a feeling that my experience of a past rattle will not apply here but you may find it amusing.<div> </div><div>Many moons ago I took delivery of a BMW Z4.</div><div> </div><div>Great car, went well but occasionally I had a rattle, metallic sounding noise coming from the dashboard centre console area.</div><div> </div><div>When stationary on the drive I looked, poked, prodded and generally went over the car trying to trace the source of this noise.</div><div> </div><div>Then one day I found it and stopped it instantly.</div><div> </div><div>I had a couple of wrist watches.</div><div> </div><div>I discovered that due to my hand positioning on the steering wheel, one of the wrist watch straps, which had interlinked metal bars hung down below my wrist. The various vibrations from the car , run flat tyres etc caused the strap and buckle to rattle together.</div><div> </div><div>The more you listened to the noise the worse it got.</div><div> </div><div>Rotating the watch around my wrist and instant cure.</div><div> </div><div>I probably would not hear that noise above the pops and bangs from the F type but it certainly had me puzzled for quite a few days.</div><div> </div><div>Dave</div><div> </div><div> </div>

Thanks guys , I tried seat position , its coming basically from just behind my right ear , ive tried prodding and poking the seatbelts and the entire area around the noise to try and replicate ,but cant , soon as I start driving "creak , rattle" even just reversing of the drive I get it , like soon as the car moves something is straining , if it continues I will have to book into the dealer.

I trolled Twitter and Facebook thinking that I'd read it there, however I found what may be of some use on THIS forum - just goes to show how this forum is starting to shape up. Pretty well be=y the look of things!<div><br></div><div>Here's a snippet from one of our members...</div><div><br></div><div><blockquote></div><div><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">After 4 attempts and 5 months trying to solving it - And absolutely no help whatsoever from Jaguar - my dealer (Ascot) solved the issue. </span></div><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;"><font color="#3e3e3e" face="verdana, geneva, lucida, lucida grande, arial, helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><span style="line-height: normal;">If you speak to your dealer and tell them that the door handle requires some additional washers then that will solve it. It would seem to be a common issue. </span></font><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;"><br style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">Great job by the dealership - especially the dealer principal who looked after me extremely well. Jaguar UK washed its hands despite this being an issue on multiple cars </span><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">and basically left it with the dealership to find an engineering solution. I hope Jaguar provides their network with reasonable service/warranty rates, as their approach to the whole thing left a very bitter taste.</span><span style=": rgb251, 251, 253;"> </span></blockquote><div><br></div><div>Hope that helps point you in the right direction?</div>

Tel , I am starting to think this is what the problem could be , because ive looked at everything internal like loose trim and that , and it is sounding like it is coming from inside the door area , so possibly it could be the handle and the sound is traveling. Im going to email the dealer and see what they say , need them to look at the intermittent "gearbox failure" that ive had 4 times also , <div>Regards</div>Steve<div></div>

<div>Steve,</div><div> </div>Wouldn't it be a hoot if the dealer takes your door trim off and finds one of these inside:<div></div><div> </div><p align="center"><img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/uploads/332/Jag.png" height="205" width="246" border="0" /><div align="left"> </div></p><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /> </div><div> </div>

Steve - really keen to hear how you get on with this. I have exactly the same problem, which started when the car had done a little less than 2,000 miles. I've reported it to the dealer, but the car's not do to go in for a couple of weeks. Wouldn't it be great if you have the solution!

Hi AMcC , yes I think the problem is I am going to struggle getting the car into the dealer this side of the year , Likewise if you get any update then please can you post on the forum... it seems if you go armed with info to the dealer you get slightly more joy !<div> </div>

I have mine on a trickle charger when not being used. They are not great at keeping charge when you leave the ignition on without the engine running. I've had it twice, both when Ive been messing with the car on the drive with the ignition on....<br /><br />Worth a try?

the gearbox fault I seem to have seen different opinions , when it has happened , I have noticed that when I press the start button , rather than everything coming up instant their is like a 3-4 second pause , and that's when the problem happens , last time it happened was about 2 months ago , and I had just been on a 150 mile trip so would like to think their was plenty of juice in the battery , however... I had been sat in the car listning to the radio for 10 mins trying to work a route out , and then when I pressed the start/stop to start to drive , that's when it happened , ... I found this on another thread about it under common ftype problems...<div> </div><div>********************</div><div>Gear box fault. Went to drive it and error came out Gear box fault.<br> Could not clear it... I called the dealer.. . Solution: There is a<br> upgrade. They replace the shift with a new upgraded one. Note<br> I am lead to believe if you start the car and quickly engaged the gear<br> it will fail I believe it is a software problem <br></div>

Is a 2013 plate , think its one of the early ones , I bought it when it was 1 year old and now had for 4 months ,,<div>I need to have a look for the exact MY</div><div>Steve</div><div> </div>

...and where you are making connection to float your battery...directly to the terminals or otherwise..
