Did you extend your warranty?

When the warranty you bought your F-Type with expired, did you choose to renew it?

I've currently got 12 months' cover from the dealer on a 2020 P450 and I'm weighing up the pros and cons of a third-party policy like Motoreasy, AA etc. They seem to be around a grand a year.

Just curious what others have done in this situation (and whether you regretted it one way or the other!)
Cheers.

I renewed my Jag extended warranty, I've read others saying it's the most complete coverage. Good experience with my couple of claims.

I extended once, but not thereafter. I use a trusted independent to keep the cat purring nicely at a reasonable cost. Not had any big bills so far (apart from fuel and tyres, obviously!) , but I'm hoping the saved £4k (and counting) will cover anything that might crop up!

It ultimately depends on how risk-averse you are, and how much you trust your car (and the dealers!). I'd certainly stick with the Jag warranty if you go for one.

Jag warranty definitely. May never use it, I hope but I pay it monthly and like the peace of mind. Bit like home insurance…

If you're happy to pay a grand then take the Jaguar warranty option instead. I looked into some of the 3rd-party warranties and 3 that I checked specifically excluded headlights and given the price of the LED units, that was a risk I wasn't going to take. If I had an older car with HID or Xenon lamps, I suspect I would have gone the "stick the money in the bank" route, but there have been enough reports of problems with the older style LED lamps to leave me not wanting to risk it.

As with everything, the devil is in the detail. As far as I could tell, the full Jaguar warranty - not the 'Select' one - seems to be every bit as good as the standard warranty the car comes with. I hope I never have to find out if that's the case or not!

Wasn't going to bother about extending the jaguar warranty, but caved in on the last week, as other people have said paying it monthly I don't miss it.

Glad I did as the warning light is on for the washer bottle needing filled up, when it's full 🤔, so booked in to be fixed at jlr, bumper off job, sure I seen someone post that they had it done and it was over £600 🫣.
So I glad I extended it

I’ve the extended Jag warranty since January. Haven’t had to use it yet, but I’m paying monthly as its 0% interest charge coupled with the service plan from Jag. I just factor it into the cost of ownership. I have a 11 year old v8 m3 which I’ve never extended the warranty and has never had a failure. I don’t think the jag is prone to failures but the warranty price of 750 ish quid doesn’t seem much.

For some reason, I can't get a price for Jag's extended warranty on the website. I wouldn't mind paying for it if it covers the electrical stuff including headlights.

If you already have a warranty Jaguar should notify you before it's due for renewal. About 2 months before, IME!

But don't rely on it, they didn't remind me last year. Usually do though.

Also remember that the Jag extended warranty comes with MOT insurance, which includes the bulbs for HID headlights, and full European breakdown cover including Homestart - via the AA, but you usually get a nice silver van turn up 😂

Paying over 10 months you can choose to cancel if you subsequently sell the car, or transfer it to the new owner.

Also you can have warranty work done by a suitable independent garage who can deal directly with the claim, so you just pick up the keys when sorted - had this for an oil pump and the centre vent.

If your car isn't currently covered then you won't be able to get cover directly. IIRC, you can pay to have some sort of 'pre-warranty' inspection at a Jaguar dealer and then you can take out their official warranty. But again, if you let the warranty lapse then you will need to repeat the process.

EDIT: I knew I wasn't imagining it! From this site - https://jaguar.motor-admin.com/warranty/faq-list.aspx#faq-item5

"Is it ok if my car has been out of warranty?

If your car is currently out of warranty, please contact your supplying retailer who will be able to help you arrange a pre-warranty inspection and help you with the purchase of a Jaguar Extended Warranty."

Thanks. When the car was serviced at my local Jaguar dealership last month, they said nothing about any of this. The lady asked if was interested in having an extended warranty and I said yes and explained the result I was getting on the website. She was curious and had a go herself and then said I should give that phone number a call as this was the first time she was seeing this message 🤷

Mine is still covered by the warranty the dealer provided when I purchased it until August this year. Will I be getting the Jag extended one continued? 100% yes. Never claimed on my LR Discovery warranty in 5 years, paid out 000’s for the policy however it’s peace of mind.

Decided not to extend my warranty - prefer to save the money into a “notional” pot if needed - probably saved £10k over last few years by not paying for car warranty so happy to self-insure.
