Decided to get a detail.

Booked in for a couple of weekends time.

Full external enhancement detail (including wheels off and glass) and ceramic finish for £300.

Happy with that as Reep NW wanted nearly double that for the same service.

Will report back on the finish. Happy it will be done ready for the JDC Cosford run.

That's about what I paid for the same package MOz. Which ceramic coating are they using? I'd fully recommend Gyeon over Cquartz or Gtechniq - It's slight more expensive but IMO is by far the best ceramic.

Whats the JDC Cosford run?
Krypton 5 ceramic.

Seems to have good reviews. One coat is good for 3 years but apparently 2 coats gives a great shine.

Jaguar Driver's Club have a meet at RAF Cosford museum in 23 Apr from 1030. I've not been to Cosford museum for 20 years so thought I'd bob along. Might be 300+ Jags there.

Chap called Mike who's done all his training with swissvax.

Runs a place near me (20 mins drive) called Total Perfection Detailing.

Tidy, only 15 mins from me.
What do you get for your £300?

MOZ states it in the first post Abergele <edited><editID>wanner69</editID><editDate>2017-03-28 20:27:57</editDate></edited>

External enhancement detail and single cost of Krypton 5 ceramic applied. A second coat is another £75. Not sure if I'm going for that yet. He also knows a local leather specialist who is a genius with seats etc so might pay him a visit. He's in Deganwy.

Thanks MOZ, where are you based by the way?

I must admit I have always been a big advocate of Liquid Leather by Gliptone, as iive used it on all my leather car seats since 2002 - it's one of the only treatments that produces that natural Matt finish and is dead easy to use. The added leather smell is a bonus aswell.

I am aware that the extra body and interior protection that the dealers offer is a licence to print money. But has anyone had personal experience of the GardX treatment that Jaguar franchises offer?

It's sh*t compared to what a professional detailer can offer, often for less money. Most detailers will offer a "new car" detail which will sort the paint (it's rarely perfect from the factory) and apply much better products to protect and maintain that finish.

Save your cash.

If the dealer was offering it for free, then maybe. Although, I'd prefer to go to a detailer and have Gtechnic crystal serum applied. (ceramic coating that needs to be applied properly, as the only way to remove it is to sand it off if you get it wrong).

Although, I haven't bothered with any of it and just give the paint a four stage, clay, polish, seal and wax every six months. Fair amount of effort/time to do this though (even with a machine) so circa £300 charged by detailers isn't unreasonable.

Yes, agreed MOz. Much better options for those who specialise in detailing. Didn't make my point very well.......the gardX on offer is going to cost me nothing so I was just wondering if anyone else had bothered with it (paid for or free) and if so how they found it? To some extent I suppose a lot depends on the individual who applies it!

Superb results. Apparently a really tough job but 99% of swirls etc gone.

Looks stunning. Well happy. Tell Mike I sent ya if you contact them. Half the price of Reep NW 👍

http://www.tpautodetailing.co.uk
