Custom F-Type Mobile Phone Holder

Collecting my new F-Type a few weeks back was a fantastic moment for me. One of the first things on my todo list was to order a mobile phone holder. As i'm sure most of you have found out, there isn't a good selection at all which i found rather disappointing and frustrating.

I decided to design and 3D print my own bracket. It mounts onto the grab bar and paired with a very highly rated phone holder makes for what i think it the best solution out there.

I've covered the inside of the bracket in felt so as to not damage or mark the grab bar's leather. It attaches directly to an Mpow phone holder - https://goo.gl/6uQ1pj I designed it to allow me to still see and use all console controls.

Check out the photos and let me know what you guys think?

PM me if your interested and would like me to 3D print/make you one, id be happy to do so. I would kindly ask for a small fee to cover the cost of 3D printing etc. PM me if your interested. (hopefully im not overstepping any forum rules, just let me know if i am)

Cheers
JK

Hi,

Got one of these for my F Type from Jonathan and am super happy with the holder. Excellent idea and better than anything else I've seen on the market.,

Here are some photos.

Sent a PM yesterday asking a similar question. Looks very neat.

I have a vent mounted holder but orcs not ideal whereas this looks a very good solution.

Hi Seacourt,

Thanks so much for the post. I'm so glad you like the product.

If any one is interested please PM me.

Regards
Jonathan

My holder was fitted today and is just perfect. Took 2 mins to fit, once I found the right allen key.

I was a little worried about marking of the leather so removed it to check and nothing .

Thank you Jonathan, first contact with anything 3D printed and most impressed.

This looks great and I'd really like to buy one but I can't pm you as I've only got a couple of posts on the board! Can you pm me please and then we can helpfully work something out?

Cheers

Hi Seacourt,

Can you post a link to the short lead and neat USB charger that you've used please.

Many thanks!

I am bringing this up again, I asked Jonathan if he wouldn’t mind printing me one (sounds strange doesn’t it)

Got it the other day and must say it is great quality, lovely touch that it has fabric on the clamp to protect the hand hold.

I have it set up just like the pictures above, great as my phone doesn’t sit in the cup holders any more and I can see who is calling me to decide if I answer the wife.

So highly recommended, thank you Jonathan

JK - Excellent work....nice to see forum members using their loaf to come up with solutions to the market shortfall.

Hi everyone,

I would like to personal thank each and every F-Type Forum customer that ordered a bespoke F-Type phone holder, the response has been exceptional. Your support and feedback have been invaluable, they have give me the confidence to setup an online web shop https://www.knightspeed.co.uk to start producing and selling "Bespoke Phone Holders" for sports cars and super cars.

If us F-Type owners all have the same phone holder issues maybe other 2 seater sport car owners might have the same problems, at least i hope so. I have recently invested in some advanced equipment which will allow me to 3D scan a cars interior and produce a bespoke phone holder that fits that car perfectly. I have also purchased a new very expensive  industrial grade 3D printer which produces much higher quality finished parts.

I have just added a new Wireless (QI) phone holder which will fast charge all wireless enabled phones including Samsung Galaxy's and the new iPhones 8, 8+ and X

Please visit my new website https://www.knightspeed.co.uk and give me your thoughts and feedback on it.

I have also setup a promo campaign where you can win discounts by referring your Super Car friends to the site. Send this link https://goo.gl/S8SnxJ to anyone you think might want an F-Type Phone Holder and you will receive a 10% discount.

Again thank you for all your support.

Regards
Jonathan

I can tell you of a mass produced car that's a right PITA to find a decent phone holder: Evoque. Personally we want a holder that sits around the top of the dash level. Both of us use our Smartphones for the Sat Nav (much better than using the cars) Ideally wants to be in the drivers eyeline without interupting the view out of the windscreen. Also aids reception being that little bit higher. I would've bought one of your F-Type ones but the phone resides too low for my use.

An Evoque, interesting. Ill take a look. Thanks.

The problem is 99.9% of phone holders are designed to be generic and actually don't solve a problem, rather create one. Unfortunately there is no solid fixing point higher up on the F-Type to secure the phone holder too.

Hi,

OK after changing my iPhone to a Galaxy Note 8 (good move!) and as this phone has wireless charging I wondered if I could get a phone holder that would support this function.

Low and behold as I was looking at the Knightspeed Website what do I see but one of these exact items! So purchased and very happy with the holder.

It was very easy to install, just one screw and easier than the previous holder from these chaps as this could be done by hand without any tools, a nice improvement.

Didn't use the supplied Cigar Charger and Cable but used my existing short lead to plug into the holder and all was good.

From the video below you can see how easy it is to just drop the phone into the holder, the green light changes to blue as it charges and that's it. Also very easy to do one handed so good if you forget to put your phone on charge on the move (so to speak!!! :o ).

Thanks

Seacourt.

P.S I have no affiliation with Knightspeed but do like this product.. :)
