Erm, according to the "car thefts" topic only a few days ago you don't have a garage?

"my house does have a garage but it is being rebuilt after it was almost done 6 months ago and a storm came along and destroyed the thing so cars are in the driveway ".

that was his summer house Phil - he overwinters somewhere else with a fully functional garage and fleet of Jaguars. Don't we all?

Just joined the Forum for the sole purpose of finding an answer to this issue. In cold temps passenger door will not close and when it finally does after driving with the safety belt holding door closed, it stays permanently shut until the car is shut down and warms up. Dealer can't seem to find a problem even after I've driven it to them in the mist of this crisis.

Well now you're here, introduce yourself with some pix of your F Type. :)

Welcome!

Welcome,

That is a strange one, now is the time to leave it at the dealers though, cold weather forecast again.

GMoore,

I have had the exact same issue with my Coupe for over a year. The dealer replaced the locking mechanism in February last year but as soon as winter arrived the issue started again. The dealer can't replicate the problem, which is incredibly frustrating. If your dealer solves the problem, please let me know.

Thanks,
TT

Gents,

The fact that the handle pops out when unlocked says to me that the solonoid is functioning correctly, hence why replacement parts solve nothing.
JLR dealers are not conversant with faultfinding and throw new bits at the car in an attempt to fix the issue unfortunately.

The issue appears to be a little more to do with the linkages thereafter the lock ( I will look through the workshop manual presently to establish what's what).

Whilst Gummi Pfledge and silicon spray will help the issue with the door seals sticking to the cold door frame, it won't and shouldn't be used on the widow waste seals.

The issue if window stick is caused by the top of the glass sticking to the door seal in conjunction with stiff waste seals.

If you wash your car at the same time as the cold weather, you are on a hiding to nothing. Remember that when cars are tested at low temperatures, the relative humidity is nigh on zero.
Water just seizes everything up.

I'm inclined to suggest silicon spray oil on the door linkages, hinges, handles etc, but until I review the drawings I'll hold off.
