Cleaning Driveway after Exhaust Soot

Hi all, I've been lurking here for a while as I've decided to get my first f-type. Love the way they look and test drove one recently so I'm now hooked.

I've read a few posts about the how soot can sometimes drip from the exhausts when parked, so my question is how easy is that to clean off the driveway? - I've got block paving (ie bricks) so I wonder if I'll get permanent stains if it soaks in.

Just need to plan that first conversation with my wife when she sees the marks! :?

No idea about driveway soot removal, but welcome to the club! And enjoy those test drives .... :)

I get soot on one of the exhaust tips but never seen anything on the floor. I don't think you need to be concerned about it.

Never noticed any soot dropping from the exhaust. If you do get staining on a brick drive just clean off with some diluted Oxalic Acid. Or use any proprietary brick or wood cleaner such as “Netrol”. Although all stone/wood cleaning and rust removal products have a high O.A content. Now armed with this info just go and buy the car and remember to post pictures 👍

Thanks all, whilst some get that soot it is good to hear that not everyone gets it.

And as you say, there will be typical cleaners for soot on bricks so I'll work something out.

Can't wait to find my new toy :D

Never had any driveway soot here either. Only on the exhaust tips.

It depends on the engine type though. In the past I've seen cases where V8 owners got some soot on the driveway because the exhaust tips are a bit tilted upwards so soot accumulates and somehow seeps out somewhere further inboard.

Possibly condensation in the exhaust leaking out of a joint.
Much as i dont think my exhaust "Blows" anywhere i have occasionaly noticed a small puddle of sooty looking water on the floor of my garage underneath the back box .

AIUI, there's a "drain hole" somewhere along the piping to allow condensation to escape.

Yes, from the various threads I've read, it seems the bop and bang means burning in the exhaust and so soot (and probably condensation) build up in the exhaust.
Sometimes this just means soot marks on the tips but it sounds like it also sometimes drips out of the drain holes and so for some it leaves soot stains in the floor.
I hadn't picked up that the v6 and v8 behave differently but they could. Best thing for me though is to hear it doesn't happen to all so if it does happen when I get one I can honest say I wasn't expecting it
